Hi has anyone had this? My gums are really sore and swollen ok my cheek and round my back teeth. I wondered if it was a pregnancy thing.

I'm pretty sure this is related to pregnancy I've heard it a few times, I think it's also common for dental issues to arise form pregnancy too! I'm also 5 weeks pregnant today, very overwhelmed at first but slowly coming round to it :) what other symptoms have you had?

Ah good to know. I'd like to have some symptoms! I've had a bit of back pain and been really tired on a night. I went to bed at 9:30 last night. I'm actually 5 weeks on Saturday. I've not told anyone yet apart from DH. I'm saving it at a surprise after 12 week scan. My mum will cry I know it.

How about you? Have you any symptoms?

Hi OP, congratulations on your pregnancy. I had really bad swollen and bleeding gums through my first and second trimesters. I’m 35 weeks now and it’s only just easing up. I switched to gum sensitive toothpaste and used Corsodyl daily mouthwash as well. It tasted gross but it did seem to help. I’m still doing that now to keep it at bay. Hope this helps Smile

My gums bleed every time I brushed them throughout pregnancy. I had to get a soft bristled brush which helped and also used mouthwash more. It has returned to normal since giving birth.
If it's too painful get it checked by a dentist. My Nan lost almost all her teeth during pregnancy so I'm always a bit cautious!

Yep the tiredness has hit me like a bus too, I've just qualified as a nurse & due to start my new job in A&E in 2 weeks (oops) so I have no idea how I'm going to cope at work! I feel like I've just had PMS symptoms really. Congratulations on your pregnancy! I've held off telling my mum too, I think she will just be so excited she won't be able to keep it to herself Smile
