Anemia help

Currently 10 weeks and been put on iron tablets as my stores were very low. Struggling so much day to day (looking after my 12 month old as well) that I can't even climb the stairs without feeling breathless and like I need to lie down.

Anyone had this and if so, when did it get better for you?

I'm surprised no one's answered you, I thought anaemia was pretty common in pregnant women? I sympathise I'm 35 weeks pregnant and had low iron stores (ferritin was 6), got prescribed iron tablets but have had them in the past and found they made me really constipated, so took spatone sachets instead. Even after a few weeks of this, my iron stores still hadn't improved, so have had two iron infusions now (where they put you on a drip in hospital). Might be worth asking about having an infusion if tablets aren't doing the job. I'm still tired but not as brain foggy and dizzy as I was.

@tuppencethedog thanks for replying! I'll ask about infusions at my next appointment if I'm still feeling like this. Do you have to be 3rd trimester for the infusion?

You can have the infusion at any stage

I had tablets in my last pregnancy and they did seem to help within a couple of days so fingers crossed they help quickly for you too xx
