Hi all

Im.17 wks 4 days and last week was feeling in my lower tummy like little spasms like when you get a twitch in your eye, or little pops certain it was movement I was so happy, as I have an anterior placenta I wasnt expecting to feel anything for ages yet, This is my first pregnancy too. Anyway this week movement has not happened is this normal I read online that baby is still v small and it can change position meaning I wont feel anything, has anyone had any experience of this? Sorry if I am asking a silly question I have had a mc before and this is my first pregnancy thats come this far so I worry over every tiny thing x

With my previous pregnancy, the first time i felt movement, i had realised it was the baby. It felt exactly how you describe, like either someone flicking me from the inside or like bubbles popping.
I felt nothing for another week, and it was only when i felt it again that i realised the week prior was also the baby.

As you say, baby moves alot and there is alot of space so i wouldn't be concerned if you dont feel it every day

@Iamthecrazycatlady
I felt the same at week 15-16, then it scared me as the whole of week 17 I felt nothing. Absolute zero.
But then 18-19 she came awake again and now she's non stop!
I don't think you need to worry about not feeling your baby every day until you get mid/end of 20's weeks.

Hi @Iamthecrazycatlady ,

I just had my little girl near the end of August. I too had an anterior placenta and was my first pregnancy that had gotten this far (previous four miscarriages ). I felt fluttering movements on and off and didn't feel proper consistent movements until around 23 weeks or so. Anything before was inconsistent and even from 23 weeks onwards, it wasn't loads either and I was told it was normal and they are not concerned about consistent movements until around 28 weeks onwards (read different things on this but that was what I was I told..)

If you are concerned though, I would call the midwife as reassurance.

It is really nerve wracking after a miscarriage and I needed that reassurance. There's never a silly question and if you contact your midwife, they would have heard it all before!
