Maternity Pay - help with matb1

Just wondering if anyone knows why you need to hand in your matb1 before 25weeks? I've handed mine in but my boss is on holiday this week so won't get it until next week which would make me 25weeks. Would I still get my maternity pay on time? Anyone handed it in late and still got paid their maternity?

Yeah you’ll be absolutely fine, I handed mine in then completely forgot to send HR the online maternity pay application🙈 i was about 27 weeks when I realised, it was absolutely fine!

I didn't get my mat1B form until 28 weeks, I emailed hr at 25 weeks to give the date I intended on starting my maternity leave and that i would get them my mat1B form as soon as I got it.

I wouldn’t stress. I’ve just handed mine in because I didn’t see a midwife face to face until my 28 week appointment.

Don’t worry I didn’t get given mine until my 24 week midwife appointment and I don’t know if anything was done with it at work until after 25 weeks anyway x

Maybe it's set at 25 weeks to give all those pregnant ladies some leeway when they forget due to baby brain!!

You’ll be fine just let HR know that you’ll be handing it in a bit late. Under normal circumstances the rule is 25 weeks but I told HR I wouldn’t be getting mine until 28 weeks due to lack of appointments and it hasn’t affected anything
