Hey guys,

Got our early reassurance scan this Friday. My fiancée will be near enough 9 weeks by Friday. Reasoning for this is we are getting married abroad in a few weeks, so timing was key in hopefully getting a positive scan, so we can tell the family, plus drop it in there on my speech to all our friends ;) The NHS scan we are willing to wait until after the wedding. This is our 1st child so completely new to us. Is 8 +5 weeks a decent enough date for a scan ? I know it’s still early, but what is the likelihood of a heart beat ?

Over 8 weeks is a great time for a scan, you will certainly be able to see the heartbeat. I had one at 7+6 and it was there clear as day. Good luck - once you see the heartbeat the chances of miscarriage decreases significantly.
