Early pregnancy insomnia?

I’m almost 6 weeks and have had this problem since I became pregnant (I can track it back to before I knew) basically I wake up at around 3am every night and then toss and turn for the rest of the night. Sometimes it’s accompanied by vivid dreams which wake me up too.

We go to bed early ish (10pm) and I feel Tired like normal, I fall asleep ok but then wake up around 3. I then feel wide awake but also exhausted. Sometimes I need the loo so I do that but it doesn’t stop the tossing and turning.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this And has any tips or is going through it right now too?

As I type it’s 4am!

Yep I have the same issue. I always wake up to pee between 2-3 and can never go back to sleep until 5-6 and then my toddler wakes up.

I have this issue with pregnancy and I'm not sure why. I try to go to bed around 8pm so even if I do wake up before 5, I've at least had 6+ hours sleep.

Maybe try that

Good morning!

My sleeping hasn't been great this year, but I'm nearly 12 weeks and my body clock has the pattern of keeping me awake 2am-5am.
I don't know how to crack this.

The first few weeks are so tiring. I was in denial, but I was so drained. Be kind to yourself and rest or nap throughout the day if it helps.

Yep 🙌🏻 been a great sleeper my whole life. Pregnancy insomnia started before I even took a positive test and unfortunately has continued through the whole pregnancy! I'm now 37 weeks and it's the worst it's ever been. I haven't had an uninterrupted night's sleep since 2019! And baby is nearly here so it'll probably be about 2030 before I have one again 😆

Yes this is what I keep thinking... is this it now, will I never sleep again?!?!

My husband keeps telling me off for going on my phone when I can’t sleep, but I find it helps to distract me from worrying about being awake and makes me tired again.

It’s so weird going to sleep with no problems for like 4 hours, but always waking up at 2-3am and then tossing for the rest of the night.

Glad to know I’m not alone!

Yep! This happened for me pretty much as soon as I conceived (but didn’t know I was pregnant yet). I drop off to sleep just fine but always wake up in the night. Sometimes it feels like I’m awake all night, other times not so bad and I fall asleep again eventually. I’m now 10w and it’s still happening - now accompanied by needing a wee

I'm the same. I go to bed around 8pm too these days!

Chanel05 · 14/09/2020 13:25

Yep! It's my due date tomorrow and I haven't had a night of uninterrupted sleep the whole way through my pregnancy. I wish I had advice, but I don't!

Littlebee1990 · 14/09/2020 14:52

Yup, I’m 4+4 and ever since around 3+4 I’ve woke up at 4am and not been able to get back to sleep. It’s horrible!

I can sympathise OP. I had this 1st trimester from very early on. I felt rubbish enough as it was, could have done without insomnia too! But luckily it gradually improved and from around 16wks or so my sleep has been back to normal.
