I've just had an appointment letter come through to see the antenatal obstetrics team in a few weeks, I will be 37 weeks. I'm just a little confused since I've not had to see them in previous pregnancy or in this pregnancy, until this appointment at 37 weeks. I'm just wondering if anyone would have any idea to why and if so what do they focus on when you see them?

Hmmm. In my first pregnancy I saw them due to an allergy I have (I had NO idea why I had the appointment until I turned up and no one seemed to be able to tell me!) and in this pregnancy I'm due to see them because of hypertension in my first pregnancy.

Anything happen in your second pregnancy that gave you a risk factor?

loveacupoftea18 · 11/09/2020 21:32

Sorry, meant did anything happen in your first pregnancy!

AntiHop · 11/09/2020 21:32

Are you an older mum?

Freckleyou20 · 11/09/2020 22:39

@loveacupoftea18 No previous conditions for me. Last baby had gastroschisis but that's a birth defect and would of been picked up on any scans I've had, which luckily so far has been all good! And I'm measuring good fundal height wise... I'm so confused, perhaps like you, they've not told me something they've found...

@AntiHop Nope not older

That’s strange. Could be an admin error.
I’m consultant led, so have seen them from 28 weeks. 37 seems a bit random! Give your midwife a call xx

Freckleyou20 · 12/09/2020 17:06

@BeMorePacific Yeah, the main thing I thought was 37 weeks is a bit late to want to be seen all of a sudden... I'm seeing midwife Monday so I'll ask her then, hopefully this make some sense to her because I so confused

I've got an appointment next week when I will be nearly 39 weeks at that point. Mine is because I have genital herpes and I think it's so they can make sure I'm all ok 'down there' and I have enough medication to ensure I don't have a flare up when I go into labour, as otherwise I'll end up having a C-Section.
Definitely ask your MW on Monday

Freckleyou20 · 12/09/2020 21:01

@lockdownpregnancy Hopefully Monday will give some answers, I'm not even on any medication etc, I can't think of anything at all. I certainly won't be attending any hospital appointments unnecessarily with Covid at the moment. Good luck with everything!! I hope it all goes well Smile

@Freckleyou20 you too! Just take it as some extra reassurance that they are keeping such a close eye on you.
Some ladies have literally just been left! So sad, but so true!
