Hi people. I'm 8 weeks pg and have been taking Sanatogen pronatal vits but obviously the iron in it does not agree with me (not going into too much detail...but bunged up!)

Does anybody know, apart from Folic acid...just what I should be taking?

Im not a veg eater and I am eating very little to be truthful as im sick (not actually hurling but....)

Ive heard vit b12 but what else?

Much appreciated.

Clair

I used to take Pregnacare (I think it was called that). It had all the vitamins you need. If you're still unsure, speak to your midwife who should be able to recommend something suitable.

Just to say that it is very common to be constipated in early PG due to hormones... so may not be the iron in your vits that is causing it. Drink lots of water and eat fibre! You could just take folic acid until you get back to normal .

I would second the water drinking! Oddly enough I had the same problem, but it stopped as soon as I switched TO Sanatogen - I had been taking Pregnacare and was also completely "bunged up"!! Straight back to normal within a few days of switching to Sanatogen, but that will obviously not help you! Maybe try Pregnacare?!! Boots do an own brand one too.
Still happens occasionally (31wks) but drinking lots of water (esp boiled warm water if you like that, I love it but I know many people hate it.)

Good luck!

D'oh can't seem to finish a sentence - brain minced - drinking lots of water HELPS!

Boots do a set of pregnancy multivits called "mum to be" - they don't have iron in them, but they DO have ginger extract and vitamin b6 (good for morning sickness) and omega 3.

And they're cheaper.

I stopped taking my multi vitamins as I think they were making feel sick all the time. I have been living on big bowls of all bran flakes every day so that I am not so bunged up. It works a treat!
