Hi all,

I’m 38 weeks and just been for midwife appointment. She said baby is head down but still not engaged. Was hoping she would be just for progress as it’s been a tough pregnancy and I’m ready for her to be here! Has this happened with anyone else? If so when did baby arrive as I’m now thinking she’s going to end up going to 42 weeks?!

I wasn't engaged at 38 weeks, my waters broke at midnight 38+5/6 and I had a baby in my arms by lunch!!

I have heard that babies can engage and then pop back out again all the way to birth. I know woman whose babies weren't engaged and 2 days later they gave birth. I dont think it's an indication that things wont happen.

Just do what you can to bring the baby down; bop on a ball, do a bit of dancing, maybe DTD. Good luck!

My midwife told me that some babies don't engage until labour. I was 3/5 engaged at 36 weeks and 4/5 at 38 so baby had jumped back up!
