Third birth stories

Currently 16 weeks with third baby and just wanted to know what others second and third births were like. Were they shorter or longer than the second birth. Also, been told I have an anterior placenta so not sure how much this will affect the birth. Had an assisted first birth and really hope I won’t need another one.

My third birth was shorter than my second. I was induced with my second @42 weeks and the labour was 11 hours long and then with my 3rd I was 41 weeks with no induction and labour was 6 hours and nearly gave birth at the hospital entrance. Congratulations on your 3rd

Following!!

I’m pregnant with number 3.

Labour 1 was 36 hours back to back and horrific.

Labour 2 was about 3 hours start to finish 😂

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 08/09/2020 20:22

First was 12 hours from start to finish, exactly on her due date.

Second was around her due date (I wasn't counting the days) and took 6 hours from start to finish.

Third was half the time again. 3 hours from start to finish. Came around his due date too but not sure exactly when he was due. Easier birth by far because he was in water and a thing pool is an absolute godsend!

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 08/09/2020 20:23

**a birthing pool

DramaAlpaca · 08/09/2020 20:27

First birth was 21 hours start to finish, had an epidural and needed a forceps delivery.

Second birth was 12 hours, only needed gas and air but had quite few stitches.

Third birth was five hours. It was a nice, easy, relaxed home birth with just a few whiffs of gas & air towards the end and no stitches.

Bluebelltulip · 08/09/2020 20:34

1st: 30 hours natural start sped up Hmm with the drip. Anterior placenta.
2nd: 6.5 hours induced (9hours from beginning of induction). Posterior placenta.
3rd: 14 hours induced (16 hours from beginning of induction). Anterior placenta.

I don't think placenta position effected my labours, felt much more movement with a posterior placenta.

NoRoomInBed · 08/09/2020 21:09

1st was 7 hours. Natural start. Couple of stitches. All but epidural.
2nd was 5 hours. Popped my waters to start me. Couple of stitches. All but epidural.
3rd was 1 hour. Pessery start. no pain relief and no stitches was also my biggest baby at 8lb 2oz.

Thanks for all the comments. My first was back to back, episiotomy, failed ventouse and then forceps. 3 days of labour. Just horrible.

Second was in the pool, around 5 hours of established labour and a very quick birth.

Really hoping for the same. Reading these has made me feel a little less anxious that most have been shorter and easier.

Fingers crossed!

Good luck @Sexnotgender sounds like we had similar previous births

God literally the same @Highheels87 🙈 right down to the failed ventous, episiotomy and forceps. Awful.

I planned a water birth with no.2 but he came out like an absolute rocket. 2nd stage was 4 minutes 😂

Queenbee95 · 09/09/2020 18:33

Following as I’m pregnant with number 3!

1st (vanishing twin syndrome, don’t know if it matters?) 24 hours active labour, 4 weeks early, all drugs available. Ended in forceps. Posterior placenta

2nd - 6 hours active, birthing pool and g&a. Anterior placenta.

Hoping this labour won’t be too long. Only 6 weeks just now so a while to go before then anyway

SalvatoreMaroni · 09/09/2020 18:35

My third birth was very straightforward, was in labour for about 6 hours. I also had an anterior placenta, it didn't affect the birth but throughout the pregnancy I couldn't feel much movement which was worrying at times. The after pains with no.3 were worse too, I wish I'd been prepared for that :)

Highheels87 · 10/09/2020 07:59

@Queenbee95 the water is great isn’t it! I really wanted to try home birth this time but not allowing it in our trust unfortunately so hope there’s a pool available when the time comes . Congratulations on the pregnancy

@SalvatoreMaroni that sounds like the ideal birth. That’s reassuring to know you had an anterior and was ok birth wise. I can’t feel anything at the moment so wasn’t too surprised when the sonographer told me. Does make it worrying later on when counting movement. How could I forget the after pains Confused the pains with my second were worse than the contractions. Ouch

@Sexnotgender sounds like my kind of birth 4 minutes would be great 😂

Currently 15 weeks with my 3rd

DC1 was 6 and a half hours Induced at 37+4
DC2 was 5 and a half hours at 40+5
I’m hoping DC3 will be a sneeze and he/she is out kind of birth 😂

KB13 · 10/09/2020 21:50

I was also back to back with my 2nd and it was a horrific birth. Hoping that isn’t the case this time 😬

calimommy · 11/09/2020 04:53

First baby -induced + 6hrs

Second baby -spontaneous + 4hrs

Third baby -spontaneous + 2hrs

I'm curious to see how this next labour goes, very fast or a complete switch and longer... 🤷‍♀️

StaceImpactWfan · 11/09/2020 07:33

First baby was 33hours back to back labour.

Second baby was 1hour 45mins.

So I'm panicking about 3rd 🤦🏼‍♀️
