7 weeks 1 day scan......

I went in for an early scan today due to the amount of spotting that was happening, by my dates I'm currently 7 weeks and 1 day.
The ultra sound lady tried her best but couldn't find a thing that was remotely baby shaped, so I had to have an internal scan........
wasn't as bad as I thought other than she could only find the pregnancy and yolk sac but no Fetal pole?!
She also said that I was measuring 5.5 to 6 weeks rather the 7 weeks 1 day I thought I was.
Obviously this has confused me a lot and now I'm worried that it's not going to be a viable pregnancy.
I have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan, hopefully it will be better news than today.
If anyone has been thru this, please offer some lovely words of wisdom xx

Are your dates calculated by your last period? If so her dates are more accurate. You don’t ovulate usually until Around 2 weeks after your period. Dates aren’t always accurate until around 12 weeks anyway so may still change. Most private clinics don’t scan until at least 6 weeks so it’s still very early for you, try not to worry too much.

Regardless of what you calculated, your dates could be off. The next scan will give you answers. I've had this a few times: no foetal pole and only
Yolk sac at and early scan. Then either foetal pole and growth at the next scan, or no growth and a miscarriage. I hope it's for former for you x

Hi I have been through this it is worrying but not always bad news. My bad experience was in march, my scan at 7 weeks showed baby didn't really grow after about 5+5 weeks and it sadly ended in miscarriage about a week after my scan.

I am currently 7+2 but at my scan yesterday I was put back a week. I'm not worried as I know I ovulated really late last cycle so I was expecting to be put back. I wanted the scan to check for issues around bleeding but everything was ok.

I really hope all goes well for you and you just ovulated a bit later than you thought X x

I have had a scan at supposedly weeks where they only saw the egg and yolk sacs and said they thought I was more like 4 or 5. I went back around 3 weeks later and all was ok (fingers crossed) although I am still technically a week behind - I'm 15 weeks now when going on last period I should be 16. They think I ovulated late.

However my friend went at 7 weeks (she was sure about her dates) and they only saw egg and yolk sac and sadly that pregnancy didn't progress. It could go either way.

Fingers crossed for you OP.

Sorry my first sentence should say 'supposedly 6 weeks '

The first day of my last period was on the 20th July, however, I had spotting from the 17th onwards.
It was a really weird cycle but I got my BFP on the 18th August.
I'm hoping everything will be good in 2 weeks, just worried that it won't be x

You possibly had a late ovulation by a few days and then the baby could be a late implantation, it can make all the difference and it's just mother nature to blame.

It's really, really hard, but try not to worry.

You will easily hear/google hundreds of stories where this happened to someone and turned into a viable pregnancy. You will also hear just as many where it didn't. It's really difficult, and please don't make this worse for yourself by trying to symptom spot or liken to anyone else's story as there is no way to determine. Time will tell.

Fingers crossed for a lovely, strong heartbeat and good little baby shape in two weeks!

I am having a re-scan tomorrow. I was scanned Monday last week due to spotting. I thought I was 7 weeks, the gestational sac measured 5 weeks and they just saw an empty sac. The doctor told me it was 50/50. I have done a lot of searching online and it really does seem like it can go either way, but people do get good news all the time. 5.5 - 6 weeks is so early to tell. You have all my best wishes

Good luck today @Elspethelf

Thank you @User43210, scan went great, saw a baby, a yolk sac and heard the heartbeat!! I am measuring 6+5 so I am not as far along as I thought. We are over the moon that everything seems normal :D
