Swelling ankles/hands

I went for a short walk yesterday and was shocked when I saw my fingers were very swollen about halfway!
I've had the 'fat ankles' every now and then after a long day on my feet but this is the first I've noticed it on my hands!
It went down very quickly once I sat down and held them up high for a few minutes.

Is this normal? I am 33 weeks right now so pretty near the end but not quite there yet!
Has anyone else experienced random swelling?

I’ve started to notice my fingers and ankles swelling and I’m only 21 weeks! 😱😱

I’m 36 weeks and had swollen hands for the first time On Saturday, but haven’t had it since. I think I may have not drunk enough water and had been on my feet a lot cleaning the house, which caused the swelling.

Swelling in hands and feet are normal in late pregnancy. If your hands were very suddenly swollen rather than a gradual swell it’s worth mentioning to your midwife as sudden swelling can be a sigh of pre-eclampsia.

I went up a shoe size until 4 weeks after DS was born. My hands, feet, legs and bottom of stomach (the worst!) all held a lot of water. Had lost over 2 stone 10 days after he was born due to him and water. Do get checked by midwife though as it can be a sign of Pre-eclampsia. Mine wasn’t (surprisingly to every midwife or doctor I met) but it’s better to be safe. Xx
