Constipation remedies - any ideas?

Hi everyone,
Sorry for this but I am just wondering if any of you have any ideas on how to relieve constipation during pregnancy...the joys! I have always ate a healthy diet with fruit and veg everyday and had no problems...until the past couple of weeks. I am not taking any iron supplement as iron levels so far are good. I have read that this can be normal - just wondering if there are any good suggestions to help with this. Thank you.

Try a fybogel sachet every morning, they help loads but not in an awful laxative type way. Totally recommend this as soon as you’ve given birth too, helps with the dreaded first poo 😆 Walking every day is a big help too.

Thank you @Kodiak83 I will give those a go. It just makes me feel so bloated and I don't want the problem to get worse. I have heard you can get piles due to constipation so would like to try and avoid that if I can.

Lots of water is always a good start. I also find a big bowl of slippery porridge and a banana, or tinned prunes if it's got really bad, help me. I also think being active - maybe a quick bit of stretching, walking up and down the stairs or outside briefly can help.
I also read about piles, so I just try and wait until I really have to go, giving myself plenty of time in the morning before I have to leave for work so I'm not stressed or trying to get something going before I'm ready 😆
I've been constipated throughout and I'm only halfway!

I just switched from fibogel to lactulose. Fibogel was helping me (two sachets a day) but I got the point I couldn't bear drinking it, the consistency made me gag after almost 4 weeks on it!!! Now on 15ml lactulose twice daily and it's working so far plus much more bearable!!!! Although I know they work in different ways, fibogel adds fibre whereas lactulose softens stoops by drawing water to them so you do need to ensure you drink plenty of water!

Fybogel twice a day (you could cut it down to once after you've started going regularly again).
Drink it the minute you've mixed the powder through as if you don't drink it quickly enough it thickens up and makes you gag.

I ended up with terrible haemorrhoids, so yeah stay on top of it 🙈

Good old prunes worked best for me. I can normally take laxatives but they just made me throw up while I was pregnant.

Another vote for tinned prunes here!

Thanks everyone - going to give these a try! Will try the tinned prunes....they seem to be recommended a lot! Thank you.
