I’ve been on ferrous sulphate tablets for low iron. Such bad tummy probs and iron not gone up in a month. Being sent for further tests.

Please can anyone help. Iron tablet diarrhoea in morn and constipated by afternoon eve. Taking 1 tablet morn with orange juice, spa tone at lunch and another tablet in the evening. Why are my levels not going up? Worried.

I have only just started getting appetite back too. Is that from iron? My periods have been very heavy but now on the pill. 45 years old and exhausted and worried by it all. Help!

Iron does make you feel a bit rough for the first few weeks. It does pass. I can't take them on an empty stomach or makes me really naucous. I know they say to take them on an empty stomach but wouldn't reccomend.

What amount are you raking

My midwife told me to inform the instructions and take them both at breakfast with a glass of orange juice. It honestly made SUCH a difference to the constipation issue.

Mine are ferrous fumarate 2 X 210mg, though. I started taking them when I was pregnant, then they said to continue whilst breast feeding which I stopped at Christmas but I've continued to take the iron as I feel like I have more energy with them.
