Did you stop caffeine intake?

I just found out I’m pregnant, about 4 weeks along. Before I knew I was having about 2 cups of tea a day at work, and since I’ve found out I’ve had 1 coffee per day.

Is this silly of me? Should I just stop the caffeine now? I know it’s under the limit of what’s allowed but I’m wondering if it would be just safer to not have any at all (just like stopping drinking)

I want to give this baby the best chance I can!

I used to drink a couple of coffees a day before getting pregnant - had just bought an expensive new coffee machine as well when I found out!
I stopped completely having any caffeine the smell was making me feel sick anyway. Now at 34 weeks I’m fine with the smell and I am having a couple of decaf coffees per week and have been since around 24 weeks or so.

Yes because tea and coffee made me feel sick. Decaf is ok though if you still like the taste.

I drink 2 cups of tea a day. Sometimes just the one cup depending on my mood, but considering I use to drink about 4/5 cups a day, the caffeine thing hit me hard😂

But then I don't drink any fizzy drinks etc so that's my only main intake. I'm 33 weeks now btw x

I stuck to a max of 2 cups of tea a day, although I would very rarely have had more than that in a day pre-pregnancy anyway. I was following the NHS guidelines for food & drink to avoid, and for me I was comfortable with that.

I went off wine instantly but couldn't give up coffee. A step too far Smile

I drank a lot of tea and coffee prepregnancy. The first few days after I found out I went down to 1 coffee a day the following week pregnancy sickness hit and I couldn't tolerate the smell or taste of either. I found out just before Christmas so told people I had given up caffeine for January, others in the office had done the same. Once the sickness passed I switched to decaff or herbal teas. I had the odd tea or coffee when decaff wasn't readily available and one day when I had lunch with my dad and hadn't told him yet.

I'm breastfeeding now and for the most part sticking with decaff. I have the odd caffeinated drink but I'm used to not having caffeine now and I don't really miss it.

I have two cups of tea a day and have since conceiving. Now 34 weeks :) 200mg is the recommended maximum!
