How many weeks were you when you went into labour?

I have just started my maternity leave at 36+4, and I have SO MUCH to do! I haven't packed a hospital bag, all the baby's stuff is piled in a heap on the spare bed, the nursery furniture is currently dismantled and needs to be put together, car seat hasn't been installed... I could go on!

I was just wondering when others went into labour? I'm actually feeling pretty chilled as though I have plenty of time, but I may need a kick up the bum! In my head I'm not due for another 3 weeks, and I know he could be up to two weeks late... but I know that in reality he could probably come at any time from now onwards!

38 weeks+5, DD was born two days later at exactly 39 weeks

PhylisPrice · 05/09/2020 15:20

Waters broke at exactly 36 weeks then came baby, I would get cracking on with stuff then at least once it's done you can relax and enjoy a few weeks to put your feet up!

mrsed1987 · 05/09/2020 15:28

38 weeks exactly. We put the pram together the day before so I must have a 6th sense!

BeHereNowx32 · 05/09/2020 15:29

39+ 6, with first baby. Night before my due date :)

Birdladybird · 05/09/2020 15:30

36+5 and 36+2

DelurkingAJ · 05/09/2020 15:34

42 (on the day I was booked to be induced...I was ticked off for not turning up by the community midwife a few days later until I pointed out I’d been in active labour at the same hospital!) and 41.

sunshinecounty · 05/09/2020 15:36

34 weeks and 37 weeks

NameChange30 · 05/09/2020 15:41

DC1 was born at 41+4
DC2 due today!! But I was expecting to go past my due date because of DC1. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't pack my hospital bag until a few days ago Blush

IIRC, statistically the average for a first baby is 40+5.

By all means pack a bag for your own peace of mind (I was starting to stress about not being ready) but worst case scenario if you have the baby before you're ready it's not the end of the world. Your partner will just have to chuck some things in a bag for you!

passthemustard · 05/09/2020 16:39

41 and 39, and at least 38 with the third... 😜
Get the car seat and Moses basket/cot sorted first. Pack a hospital bag. Everything else can be done once baby is here!

I went into labour on my due date and DS arrived early morning the day after.
I packed hospital bags at about 36 weeks ish I think. The nursery furniture wasn't put together until after my son was born anyway by about 4 weeks as I hadn't even started painting his room before he was born and he was in a next2me for 6 months anyway.
We put the car seat isofix base in the car at about 36 and then maybe put the actual seat in 38 ish (although note to self, I wish I had worked out how to extend the straps before having said child as when it came to taking him home between me my partner and my mum we couldn't work it out we ended up asking the midwife 🤦🏼‍♀️ x
