Fibogel is safe in pregnancy, as is prune juice and chia seeds. Also remember to drink plenty of water, hope you feel better soon, it's a horrible feeling!

I used to swear by a glass of prune puree before bed and weetabix for breakfast, used to make the puree myself by simmering tinned prunes for fifteen mins, removing the stones and blending, would make a good few days worth

When I struggled, I had two raw carrots with my breakfast and it did the trick splendidly!

I'm also struggling with this at the moment (I'm 17 weeks) and asked the midwife what was best to take in my appointment the other day and she recommended lactulose. I had the same (but not as bad) in my last pregnancy and then I just had prune juice but I really, really hate the taste of it and can't quite face forcing it down at the moment.

Prunes are nice in all bran.

Bearcub01 · 04/09/2020 21:11

I had severe sickness and wasn’t eating much so was rarely going to the loo. I’ve been eating more wholemeal bread and tomato soup and that seems to have done the trick for me.

Chop a prune or two into your cereal or blitz in a smoothie - honestly as good as any laxative. Also delicious!

Poppy10121 · 05/09/2020 14:21

Prunes!! There’s lots of different ways to have them - you can have the tinned kind in syrup which are nice with yoghurt, or just eat dried ones from a packet on their own or on your cereal/in a smoothie, or get the juice. I’ve been doing a mixture of these things depending how I feel and it really helps!

Flaxseed grounded into food, prunes, orange juice, grapes

MichelleOR84 · 05/09/2020 15:00

I swear by a glass of prune juice . I find one glass does the trick and an hour later I need the toilet .

Cobbsgirl92 · 05/09/2020 18:52

I used prunes and I eat branflakes for breakfast every morning and this keeps me regular.
Lots of water too!

mrsc1987 · 05/09/2020 19:45

Prunes for sure, juice and prunes in juice from the tin worked for me

Zelda93 · 05/09/2020 20:10

Use flaxseed not chia seeds apparently they can cause constipation.. that's what my Trainer told me ? Confused

Kodiak83 · 07/09/2020 10:56

A sachet or even just a half sachet of fybogel every morning. Stay away from the lactulose!

TheHappyHerbivore · 07/09/2020 10:58

Linseed? You can buy it milled and add a tbsp to porridge and smoothies and things - it’s supposed to help things move along! I’ve been using it for a couple of days and it seems to be working.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 07/09/2020 14:15

As long as you drink enough water with China seeds it will help constipated. It only causes it if there isn't enough water.
