Hi all

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and considered getting a small tattoo. I haven't officially decided or gone through with the idea it was just something on my mind.

Did anyone get a tattoo whilst pregnant? If so how did I go? And how far along were you?

:)

I haven’t but from what I understand you will find it very difficult to find a tattooist who is willing to tattoo you whilst pregnant (or breastfeeding).

Advisory guidance is to not have one done whilst pregnant but as there isn’t (to the best of my knowledge) anything legal prohibiting it then technically you could have one. I wouldn’t personally.

I've had plenty tattoos before pregnancy but I don't think there recommended while pregnant maybe talk to the tattooist because some many not even tattoo you. I think it's because sometimes you can have an affect to the ink that you wouldn't have normally just be cautious

Any decent artiat wont touch you when pregnant or even breastfeeding so just wait until after.

No reputable tattoo artist will work on you while you're pregnant, and I would avoid anyone willing to do so with a ten-foot pole - you don't know what else they're sloppy about. I have many tattoos, and indeed used to work in a tattoo studio, so I'm clearly not against them in principle, but if strongly recommend that you save getting one for after your pregnancy.

Congratulations, btw!

no reputable tattoo artist would tattoo a pregnant woman. you can’t be that desperate for a tattoo that you can’t wait a few months.

RowboatsinDisguise · 04/09/2020 15:17

No tattoo artist with the appropriate qualifications and skills would go near you as a pregnant woman so you’d get a shot tattoo and risk a nasty infection.

i am tattooed on most of my body but i can assure you that it is absolutely NOT recommended to get one when pregnant!!

You will have plenty of time to do it later :)
Don't risk it!!!

rebecca102 · 04/09/2020 15:30

No. You're pregnant for 9 months. I'm sure it can wait.

BlueDream · 04/09/2020 16:14

No of course you bloody can't get a tattoo while pregnant!

Chill the hell out it was a question. Long before I even read these replies I decided against it after doing my own research. I simply wanted to find out if anyone's done it and if it has affected anyone.
