Implantation bleeding at 5+1?

Hi all, I'm 5+1 today and this morning have started bleeding. It's not bright red 'fresh' blood, more pink/brown in colour and I've still got a faint line on an IC but I don't feel good about it at all. I've got mild cramps, but these started about 2 weeks ago and have never gone away. Had cramps when pregnant with DD but never bled.
Could this be implantation bleeding this late on or is it more likely I am having a CP which is what I've been fearing? ☹️

I think it's impossible to say. How long are your cycles? Do you know when you ovulated? When did you last have sex? Implantation bleeding isn't that common - most women don't get it - and 5+1 is quite late. But if you only ovulated, say, 6-12 days ago, it's possible.

@sarahb083 thanks for the reply, my cycles vary anything from 26-36 days and going off the OPKs I took, I would say I'm about 17 DPO x

Yes totally possible to have implantation bleeding that late. I'm now 11 weeks pregnant but at 6 weeks i had brown/pink spotting and went to the early pregnancy unit for a scan and the staff said that they could see a sac of blood which was likely left from implantation, and its just coming out now (at 6 weeks), that's why it looks brown, because its old.

@Victoria29864 thanks for the reply and congratulations! glad it all turned out ok for you! I've not had the pregnancy confirmed with the GP yet (took a sample in yesterday) or even been booked in with a midwife, so I don't really know what else to do but just wait and see what happens 😔 x

Have you had sex in the last few days op?
This happened to me, it can cause small bleeding, can even be up to a few days after you've had sex.

Unfortunately it seems like a waiting game for you, its so hard isn't it. as long as the bleeding doesn't get heavy or red, it could be totally fine. Did you say your line was faint on the pregnancy test? Which brand are you using?

@Victoria29864 I've just been using the one step strips, I've been testing with them since I found out and I was concerned yesterday that they were still very faint and possibly getting lighter, so I've been suspecting a CP for a few days and my cramping seems to be getting worse as the day is going on so I'm edging more towards this being the outcome now... still feeling absolutely gutted though ☹️ x

I see, i totally get it, its devastating, getting that line, and the hope and then watching it disappear. I had two CP before this pregnancy and it really shook me. But its really true what the docs say, you are more fertile after a CP and it really dose not mean there is anything wrong with you. How long you been trying?

@Victoria29864 this was our first try, so I kinda knew it was too good to be true, it took us 5 months to conceive DD x

Sounds like you are very fertile! I had a CP 1st and 2nd try, 3rd time was the charm. I wish you all the best. XXX

But surely implantation occurs at a few days post fertilisation?

I’ve started spotting at 17dpo which was 5th day of my missed period. Had some regular period cramps (some really bad) but not regular bleeding. Only pinkish/brown discharge.
If my calculations are correct I should be 5weeks 4 days today. My Monday test was BFN though. Spoke to midwife and she asked me to wait few more days and ask for blood test.
I’m seriously going crazy! I keep googling every symptom and every little weird feeling. Now barely spotting and I have that stretchy feeling. So still fingers crossed!

How heavy was the bleeding compared to your normal periods?
I had some bleeding a week after my period was due, but it was very light, and only lasted about 12 hours. My periods are always reasonably heavy, and for about 5-8 days, so totally different.
