Within 24 hours with my second, went in at 11.30am induction started about 1.30pm, DS arrived at 11.36pm and we were home by lunchtime the following day.

I imagine it's possible if you have a fast smooth induction but not that common and might not be a good idea.

I was induced Thursday afternoon, gave birth Friday evening and they were happy for me to leave Saturday (after theatre following birth too) but I decided to stay until Sunday to rest.

UserFriendly14 · 03/09/2020 22:13

Not necessarily same day but within 24 hours. Induction started at 7:30pm, born at 09:30 the next morning and home at about 7pm that evening.

Inductions can take ages, I was 60 hours from the first gel to them deciding I needed an emcs. I would think the nearer you are to your due date & the more ready your body is, the quicker you will be. Best thing to do is if you have a date to go in, ask them how favourable your cervix is, if it isn't then ask about an emcs, if you have a straightforward one & both you & your baby are OK you can generally be out in 24 hours.

Induction began 4pm Thursday and was home by 10pm Friday but I know that's a rarity! The grumpy midwife took great delight telling me inductions took days and usually didn't work quickly. I was happy to prove her wrong Grin

My body has done this B4... 4th time 😱 just hope I'm good to go I've been having odd cramps and braxton hix frequently

It’s definitely possible. Good luck xxx

Whatthebloodyell · 03/09/2020 23:05

With both my inductions I ended up giving birth in the very early hours of the morning. So I was home the same day as giving birth but the day after starting the induction.

If you have done it all before, do your best to get things moving yourself, do lots of walking, bouncing on an exercise ball, walking sideways up stairs. Eat loads of pineapple, hot curries, have sex if you can manage it, try to keep as active as you can to get your baby's head pressing down to kick things off. How many weeks have you to go?

TenThousandSpoons0 · 04/09/2020 00:37

Yes - if you’ve done it before and your cervix is already dilated then would be pretty common to deliver by lunchtime if your induction starts by about 8am - then home later in the day. But also no guarantee of that happening so I think best to keep an open mind :)

Sort of, induced at 10pm, in full labour by midnight, baby arrived by 3am and i was home by lunchtime that day. Was my 3rd.

porridgeface · 04/09/2020 04:51

I went in at 9pm, they started me off about 1/2am, baby born at 2pm, home by 10pm. That was first baby. Good luck

MotherofTerriers · 04/09/2020 05:11

I did it. In at 7.30 am induction at 9, baby arrived at 3pm home 9 pm

Whatthedoodle · 04/09/2020 07:47

I was induced at about 9.30pm (with just the pessary) baby born at 7.40am home by 6pm. Not quite the same day but not far off!

Avearage · 04/09/2020 08:32

Here's hoping at least tomorrow morning early would be nice going in this morning super quick n no issues would be lovely 🙏❤️

Induced and home in about 24 hours. Would have been more like 12 if the first midwife had actually broken my waters properly

sunshineandshowers21 · 04/09/2020 13:09

with my second i was induced at 6am, had baby at 1pm, home for 9pm. with my third i was induced on a tuesday morning, ended up having an emergency c-section on the friday afternoon, and couldn’t go home until monday night.
