9 weeks, Hematoma bleeds

Hi,
I am currently 9 weeks, we have been trying for 5 years and I have had 5 miscarriages, no children.

At 7 weeks I had a bleed which started with a gush of liquid and blood, it felt like I'd weed myself. I passed a clot straight after and obviously thought I was having a miscarriage due to my history.
A scan showed a visible heartbeat which I was so relieved to see and our first ever heartbeat seen.

I have never got this far in any of my previous pregnancy, my recent scan still shows a strong heartbeat and growing baby which I'm so happy to see but also another possible blood cot.

Has anybody had more that one Hematoma bleed through their pregnancy? Any good positive stories or advice would be great. I'm still spotting now and have another scan for Monday but I feel very worried about any problems these bleeds might cause.

Aww hun i understand i went through the same in my last pregnancy. My daughter was fine born at 36 weeks for unrelated reasonsi bled from 7 to 12 weeks

I had a sub chorionic haematoma with this pregnancy (I'm now 28 weeks). Like you, I had a huge bleed with insane clots at 7 weeks and we assumed the worst as been TTC for 4.5 years and had 4 MCs, then a scan revealed a baby and a heartbeat!

I then had a further 2 huge bleeds spaced about 2 weeks apart and then by about 14 weeks (IIRC) I had some brown (light) bleeding for about a week or so. I seem to have forgotten but I think it was my scan at 16 weeks that showed it had finally dissipated.

Its a horribly scary time and the last thing you need if you've suffered so many losses. I was anxious as hell. But I think most babies survive these bleeds and its usually a good outcome. Best of luck!

I had a second bleed yesterday at 6+6 Just as you describe. It's terrifying isn't it. Luckily my scan was also good and the sub chorionic bleed is well away from baby and near the cervix. Did they say where yours was?

I know they are very common so I'm trying to stay positive and not google.
This pregnancy is a well overdue ivf success and that long wait causes extra worry, so after your losses you must be so anxious. They're tough little things though and the heartbeat is a great sign, fingers firmly crossed for you

Hi @Mo81 Thank you for sharing your story, they are horrible and such worrying things to happen but feel a lot more better hearing your positive story. Till it happened I'd never even heard of them.

@Frazzlerock Congratulations on your pregnancy, sounds like you too have had a tough few years on this emotional rollercoaster.
Did they spot any of the clots on your early scans?

2@Parkandride They haven't actually said where mine is, but I'll ask on Monday. The first one they didn't even spot on my early scan but this one she did which makes me think its larger. The thought of having more has made me nervous about venturing to far from home, especially whilst walking the dog I was out walking him when it happened and I just froze to the spot.
Like you I'm trying not to get to lost in the world of google but I have read they can be more common if you've had IVF treatment, mine is too.
I just want too fast forward a few weeks and be told everything is looking good and I'm in the safe zone.

@Harrimara yes at about 8 weeks they saw the haematoma, it was huge (to me anyway) and was much bigger than the baby at the time and seemed to wrap around the whole left side of the sac. The just kept re scanning me until it finally disappeared. Baby was perfectly happy at each scan

Hi, I’m 22 weeks and still have my haematoma- I bleed every day. I also have previa which is completely covering but at the moment the bleeds are all haematoma related. I’ve had a few big bleeds, where I’ve had to stay in for blood transfusions. Other than feeling pretty rubbish from constant anaemia, I’m ok! The baby is absolutely perfect, he hasn’t been affected at all. It’s really unlikely that you’ll still have one at my stage, they seem quite surprised by the fact it hasn’t shrunk or reabsorbed, but if you do don’t panic. I really hope you’re ok, it’s so stressful, and if you haven’t already, put yourself on complete pelvic rest. I was told on Tuesday that if by 28 weeks nothing has changed then I’ll be on bed rest until the end, I might even be admitted at 30 weeks until delivery if I have a huge bleed, but to be honest I’ve been taking things quite easy anyway! If you need any advice I’ve been through every worry re-this and am happy to chat directly xx

I had SCH with both my pregnancies and I bled on and off throughout the first trimester. Both babies were born at term and now happy healthy 3 and 19 month olds :)

I could have written this post myself! I'm currently 8+3 and have had 4 terrifying bleeds since 4 weeks. Woke up last Sunday morning at 4.30am absolutely soaked through with blood and ended up in A&E. Had a private scan weds because the hospital wouldn't scan me and they confirmed strong heartbeat but bleeds around the sac. It's so frightening. I had a MMC in April so it's really ramped up my anxiety levels because I assume the worst every time. Here's hoping a healthy and happy rest of pregnancy for us all xx

@Frazzlerock I'm being scanned every week now so I feel like thats putting my mind to rest every time I see a heartbeat. I had a scan this morning and it shows the clot has reduced and its not as big as the baby which I'm relieved about :-)

@Marybird Thank you for your message. Congratulations on your pregnancy, it sounds like you have had a big ordeal with these bleeds how awful! When did your bleeds start?
I have spotted everyday since 7 weeks but thankfully I had a scan today 9+4wks and it showed the current clot has reduced in size and is not as big as the baby, plus a healthy size and heartbeat.
I am still concerned it will be like this with the spotting for a few more weeks but feel very reassured from your story that your baby is healthy and hasn't been affected.
I'm still nervous about venturing to far from home just due to the experience and surprise of the first one and the amount of blood and fluid that came out.
I'm definitely taking it easy just walking the dog once a day and luckily I can work from home but I have warned my partner that if they get more serious bed rest seems to be advised.

Yes - my subchorionic haematoma bled massively at about 8 weeks and then on and off until 10/11 weeks. The initial bleed was awful. DH and I cried all night thinking the baby was lost. Got a private scan the next morning (on the way to a wedding!) and saw a tiny heartbeat. It was an IVF pregnancy and I thought we'd need more treatment.

My DD is 2.5y and is tucked up under a Spiderman blanket shouting orders at her big brother about obtaining a snack for her...

@Frankincense88 I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through and 4 bleeds, how worrying.
I showed a bleed near the sac last week but a scan today confirmed its reduced in size but I'm still spotting no heavy bleeding.

Thats great news you saw a strong heartbeat, huge congratulations!
I feel like each week that goes by is another positive mile stone and we can breath a little lighter.

I am fining this site helpful and reassuring to hear from other women who have gone through them and it hasn't affected the baby. Since reading these stories I feel a little less worried about the bleeds but the anxiety doesn't go away especially if you've had previous miscarriages.

I'm just checking in to see how you are getting on? I have had two further bleeds, both have absolutely wiped me out.

@Harrimara hey, mine actually turned out to be miscarrying a twin. They noticed when they scanned me at 10 weeks and could see the remnants more clearly and what was left. Second twin looking unlikely to survive due to olihydramnios but we find out on the 27th when I'm 16 weeks. Hope you're doing okay despite the awful bleeds xx

I had just the one bleed but it was big and at 9 weeks. I think although the first bit of blood looked fresh, I had been bleeding for some time as after ths tit was old blood and once the worst of it was over, the next day (sorry for tmi) it was like brown bits of string coming out it the bath.

I was sure it was another miscarriage but that baby made it and is now 6 months old.

Hi @Frankincense88 Thats interesting the first time I had the bleeds they thought it was the second sac then on and off scans showed possible clots which they put down to Hematoma. I actually had a scan yesterday and they think this bleed was due to my placenta being low to my cervix and with everything moving and stretching its created a weak point. Anyway lets hope things calm down for the months ahead for the both of us.

Hi @ChikiTIKI You've pretty much described my bleeds, I bleed heavy for a day or two but then it quickly turns to dark blood then spotting. The scan I had yesterday was very reassuring and has out my mind at ease for the next few weeks ahead.

I'm glad to hear yours didn't effect the baby, its always reassuring to hear.
