I have just bought the Folic Acid pre conception pills as we are trying for a baby and have been for around 9 months but no luck yet. Has anybody else used these with positive effects?

Hey folic acid isn't to help you conceive but it's to help the development of the baby if you do! Hope this helps.

Good luck!

I've heard it does help you conceive! I bought some off amazon & started taking them in December & I fell pregnant in February/March.
If you find Luisa Zissman on Instagram & look in her highlights there's a link to her blog where she talks about all the supplements she used to conceive. She's had so many women come
Forward with success stories who were struggling to conceive.
Good luck! X

Thankyou both! I also heard it does help with conceiving but i suppose everybody has different results. I'm giving it a go anyway, either way it can't be bad for me so why not. Thankyou xx

Did the folic acid help?

Asked my GP about TTC at my age (35) and she prescribed folic acid, B12 and iron tablets. BFP on Friday after our first cycle TTC.

Good luck

The dr prescribes folic acid in case of pregnancy because you need to ideally be taking it before you get pregnant. There is a chance your child could have a spinal disorder if you don’t take it (or alternatively take in enough folate naturally in your diet) before getting pregnant. This is why it is given, it does not help you get pregnant in any way just as @H8624 said.

In answer to your question I too took the preconception tablets with folic acid every day for ten years. (No kidding) I fell pregnant twice last year once in May which I lost in late June and again in august - baby is due in 10 days. I’m glad I took as it’s essential for the baby, but it clearly was not the factor that helped me get pregnant as I was taking them for 10 years.
I hope it works for you Flowers good luck op.

Definitely good to take for the health of the foetus. I have a best friend who is a nurse and she says that they prescribe it for this reason. It is often written about as key to conceiving simply because they want people taking it because it helps prevent so many issues from spina bifida to a cleft lip. What they mean is that it is key for conceiving HEALTHILY. I.E.: you are just as likely to conceive without but with a higher chance of a problem and maybe therefore the pregnancy may not go to term.
