Position you gave birth in

I’m 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I’m currently learning hypnobirthing (I’m reading the positive birthing companies book) and I’m really enjoying it. It makes sense to me!

One of the things she talks about is birthing positions and contrary to what all the soaps and films show you, the worst position to be in when giving birth is on your back pushing! She talks about being upright, forward and open.

I’m curious to know what position did you give birth in and would you recommend one over another? Smile

On my back in stirrups (was horrendous - got awful cramp that made it very difficult)

On my back because the midwives had decided it was easiest for them. I was doing fine until transition where my body raced ahead and my brain and conscious self didn't catch up and midwives made decisions which Dh didn't react to either so I was bullied off my knees onto my back.

I laboured stood up and pacing around but gave birth in bed on my back. That was mainly because the midwife didn't believe me when I said I was ready to push (quick Labour) and by the time I'd laid down so she could have a quick look I was crowning, so she had to call for help to push me on the bed from ward to delivery room and I pushed DD out about 1 min after we parked up in the delivery room.

I haven't given birth yet (36 weeks) but it's nice to read people's experiences :)
