Combined test

Hi! Just had 12 week scan, I'm apprehensive about announcing so soon. I worry that if something bad happens it would have been better for no one to have known, rather than to have to break bad news to them. I'm waiting on my results of the blood test for the combined test for disability. Does anyone know how long it takes to find out the results of those?

The midwife at my 12 week appointment last week said 2 weeks for the bloods to come back. 1 week By phone if there is high chance of you carrying a baby with one of the disabilities. If I don’t here within a week I will receive a letter in the post within 14days

I got mine on Friday after a scan/blood test the Tuesday the week before, so a week and a half. If you are high risk you are contacted by phone within a couple of days. The test only gives you a ratio anyway which says low or high risk so you can then decide whether to have the diagnostic test. There's no your baby definitely doesn't have xyz.

If you want to wait to check your baby is healthy 20 week scan is when a lot of things are checked for, it might be pretty obvious you are pregnant by then though.

About 2 weeks for the NHS and less than 2 days If you have it done privately

Mine was nhs, bloods taken after the scan and I had my results via a letter in 3 days. They were low risk (1:10000 for all 3) so I think it may depend on where you are and where they do the testing.

I had my scan and bloods on Tuesday morning and got the results Thursday morning (low risk) which I was so shocked by. Couldn’t believe how quick. I was told max a week though and that I would get a phone call within three days if high risk. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. I'm assuming this site is UK based? I hope yours comes through soon. I'm with Leeds hospital, I'm hoping they're quick.
