Hi all

This is my first pregnancy, after apparently miraculously getting pregnant our first month of trying after about a year of worrying how difficult it would be. I am 5.5 weeks pregnant.

Since yesterday evening I have been experiencing sharp pains in my left hand side at the front and back. After seeking advice from my GP this morning I was admitted to A&E. HCG levels are about 3200 but an IV scan found no gestational sac and some free liquid. The doctor has therefore queried whether I have an ectopic pregnancy. They're keeping me in overnight for a scan first thing and then, if necessary, surgery.

Currently trying to get to sleep in in a hospital ward and wondered if anyone else is been through anything like this?

That sounds really scary. I hope you’re ok.
I haven’t any personal experience, but wanted to bump your thread. x

I hope you're ok and managed to get some sleep. It could well be an ectopic pregnancy. If it's only 5.5 weeks you might not need an operation.
It's not a nice thing to go through but just so you know, plenty of women go on to have successful pregnancies after ectopic pregnancies.
Wishing you all the best and I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

Hi everyone - thanks so much for your words which brought me a lot of comfort sitting alone in the hospital. I have just had a second scan and no signs of an ectopic but they cannot rule it out - the consultant saw something that may or may not be a small sac. Coming back in two days to see whether there are any developments but am presuming the small sac is probably still a bad sign whatever happens. Thanks for all of your thoughts.
