Anyone experienced epidural with low platelets?

I have ITP rather than gestational thrombocytopenia, but platelets have never dropped really low. Been ok during pregnancy, lowest down to around 70, currently at 81 and being monitored weekly (3 weeks till due date). No treatment needed if they stay this way, but I'm concerned as haematology suggest 70 is adequate for an epidural, yet hospital/anaesthetists suggest 80 is required. Haematology did state I could have a short course of steroids if required to keep them above 80, but if I went into labour in between blood tests (for example tomorrow) and a retest showed they had dropped to say 75, would the hospital refuse me an epidural? I am not wanting one for pain relief, more for an emergency caesarian situation, as I cannot think of anything worse than having to have a general anaesthetic in that scenario. I appreciate no one other than the doctors can really answer this question until I am in that situation but just wondered if anyone had a similar experience?
