Hi I am 14 weeks pregnant and went to a private scan i found out I am having a baby girl but I was only getting 2d pictures but the woman said to get 4d as it's so clear she didn't tell me much when I asked is everything okay she said they only check heartbeat it's up to hospital to do all the checks I haven't yet had my scan at the hospital but seeing the 4d scan I have worried myself because I am sure it looks as though my baby has a lump on her head just wondering if you can give me advice or reassurance please

They should have never offered you a 4D scan at 14 weeks. For this exact reason, the fluid and development around the skull will not have settled yet - so the fluid buildup between the skull is because it's far from ready to join.
Don't even let this be a worry and ruin your joy!

As pp said, I think this is why they usually offer 4d later on. They put it on to give me a quick look at my 16 week scan and she looked like a little alien!

Thanks girls I'm a bad worrier anyway and I told her I wanted 2d but she said oh I need to show u because it's so clear I had no choice in the matter and when I asked is everything okay from the scan she said we just check the heartbeat it's up to the hospital to check for abnormalities so that made me worry more and I don't have my hospital appointment until 2 weeks x

Please please please don't worry about this as the others have said. I had a 4d scan stop 18 weeks and again at 26 weeks and they were lumpy and bumpy on both. She's here now and just perfect. On one of them she looked like her hand was missing, it obviously wasn't. Pic attached

@84claire84 aw she's perfect! Thank you so much for your reassurance it's just so worrying when you see things that look abit odd isn't it it's because I haven't been for my abnormalities testing aswell yet of the hospital once I have that I'll be okay and no everything is perfect xx

It's a really worrying time but I'm sure everything will be just fine and if you can book yourself a 4d afterwards around 26 weeks as a treat it'll be so worth it. My daughter was/is the spitting image of her dad and it was lovely to see when she was inside me.

I promise the lumps and bumps are 100% normal. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy 🤰🏻 xx
