Measuring 5 weeks not 6 like I thought

Hi

I went for a reassurance scan at the EPU yesterday after an ectopic 2 years ago and a late miscarriage in march at 18 weeks.

Basing it in my last period I had worked it out that I was 6 weeks exactly but they said I was measuring more like 5 as baby looked to be about 2mm. There was a definite heartbeat I saw on screen and they didn't seem concerned at all but it's just got me worrying!

Has anyone else had this?

I measured 8 days behind what I thought I was throughout my pregnancy.
She's now 18 months old and attempting to feed me by rubbing a half eaten apple in my eyes.

I was measuring between 5-6 when by my dates I was 7+2. Baby has now caught up and measuring normal for my dates, I'm 27 weeks. I also had a loss earlier this year so was worried too. They said at that stage they're still so small it's tenths of mm that can make a difference so never going to be 100% accurate.

I'm sorry for your previous losses, I hope the rest of this pregnancy goes smoothly for you. Thanks

Measurements at that stage are hit and miss. I was told by a sonographer that there was no point to scans at this early stage as what you see one day you may not see the next. Just unnecessarily stressful.

Thank you everyone xx

After my losses I think I am just so paranoid of something going wrong again that it's just put some doubt and worry in my head! This baby is so loved and wanted especially after what we have been through and I can't bare the thought of anything happening to them!

Xx

Yes with my DD. I had a scan at the EPU due to previous losses. According to my LMP I should of been nearly 7 weeks. I wasnt, I was nearly 5 weeks. My LMP put my due date at 28th December and they put it at 12th January. She came on the 11th Jan.

They said at the scan I must of just ovulated later in my cycle and not to worry.

Yep I was around 9 days behind when I had my reassurance scan giving me a due date of 1st feb, by the time I had my 12 week scan baby had caught up a bit and my due date changed to 28th jan. Its normal to have various dates until your official dating scan, its because people have various ovulation times, not just on day 14 of a cycle. I wouldn't worry especially if youve seen the heartbeat 😍

Error in measurements at that stage are large. That’s why they don’t fix a due date until 12 weeks or so. Measuring a week behind at that stage is pretty meaningless.
