Nesting and labour onset

In your experience was there any connection between intense nesting behaviours and the onset of labour? I'm 35 weeks and this week I've gone from complete lack of energy (for months now) to ridiculous levels of energy and motivation to clean and tidy everything. And I usually HATE cleaning 🙈 I've spent the entire afternoon deep cleaning the kitchen and even though my back is aching so much now, I can't sit down without thinking of the next thing I need to clean 😆 Is this any indication that I'll go into labour sooner rather than later, or will I still be here in 7 weeks time dusting between the books on my bookshelf? 🤣

I went mad cleaning and putting new curtains up, even took delivery of a new sofa which I set about helping the delivery men Unwrap much to their horror, I was like a one women whirlwind.... next morning bit of back ache turned over in bed...waters went! She arrived the next day via the induction drip to as I wasn't progressing much on my own and with waters having gone they couldn't leave her any longer.
With my little boy I went mad nesting but he wasn't for moving lol he came via planned c-sec so it didn't really mean anything the nesting with him.
Good luck I hope little one makes an appearance x

My nesting consisted of stocking up on food, I have no idea why. 8 hours before my son was born I was pushing an overloaded trolley round Tesco’s when we already had a fridge and freezer full of food at home.

I am 31 weeks and cleaning everything in sight. I am running out of things to clean now, and I mean I am washing walls in kitchen and bathrooms. I am hoping baby stays put until he is cooked!

motherofdxughters · 28/08/2020 19:05

Not for me. I was nesting pretty much constantly from 20 weeks onwards.

MichelleOR84 · 28/08/2020 19:11

I had absolutely no nesting urges and then suddenly at 36 weeks I went crazy . Baby was born a week later.

otterbaby · 28/08/2020 19:17

I've added to my list of to-do's next week to sort through my candle collection 🤔 I feel like I'm just making up stuff to do now to give me an opportunity to clean and tidy!

greenette · 28/08/2020 19:22

I hope not. I'm 21 weeks and have been cleaning and organising since 17 weeks!

My nesting has just kicked in at 33 weeks! I can’t stop buying new household decor like cushions, rugs and duvet covers, cleaning and dusting everywhere and somehow had the energy to rearrange the furniture in an entire room! I’m hoovering everyday too. Quite enjoying it though as had a terrible first and second trimester bedridden with hypermesis!

I went into labour shopping for house things both times, a sofa the first time and curtains the second. I hung my 2 new pairs of curtains in labour between contractions whilst my husband was still at work. I’m pregnant with my 3rd, I’ll know when I suggest we go to the retail park for something for the house it’s time 😆.

30 weeks and flew off the handle at DH who had just walked in, through a cloud burst, and didn’t notice within 2 minutes that is cleaned the kitchen within an inch of its life! Realised about 10 minutes later that I was being loopy and nesting had probably kicked in.

newnamewhosthis · 28/08/2020 20:47

I took a sudden urge to deep clean my kitchen. I was standing in counters cleaning on top of the higher cupboards, defrosting freezers. Pulling all the cupboards out and even cleaned the oven which I HATE doing

Waters went next morning and baby was here by lunch time ❤️

Kicks in around 30 weeks for me- third time round and it’s exactly the same. I would say I’m usually a bit untidy and like things clean but am usually not great at keeping on top of everything- but now I have this huge urge to take every single thing I own and put it outside so I can clean every corner of the house.

The day I really went crazy cleaning I then had a bit of backache. Had a bath. Husband was out with work for a dinner. Next morning I still had sore back so had a second bath and then later on in the day a third! And this was my labour starting. I didnt really realise cause I thought I'd just done my back in with all the cleaning! Then I started getting a rythm of contractions then I lost my mucus plug. Yuck!
