Shoulder tip pain pregnant but not ectopic

Hi all!

I'm currently 15+4 and getting some shoulder tip pain in my right shoulder.

I've read online this is a sign of ectopic pregnancy however, I know the bub is fine as we have had multiple private and an NHS scan.

Has anybody else experienced this? Is it normal?

Thanks so much Smile

Please don't rule out an ectopic and get yourself checked out.

My 2nd mc was an extremely rare case of twins with one in the womb and one in a tube. Fortunately found in time to safely remove surgically.

The one in the womb was further along than the one in the tube in my case only around 2 weeks difference they thought but it can happen with larger gaps

As I said extremely rare but it does happen

Certainly wouldn't hurt to get checked out

@Graphista sorry to hear about your experience Sad that must have been horrible to go through.

I have already had multiple checks on an ectopic so I'm pretty sure it's probably nerve pain or something. In my entire pregnancy I have only had shoulder tip pain once lasting around 5 mins so I'm guessing it's not much to worry about?

I had this in pregnancy. No ectopic. I think it was just related to changed posture due to the bump. Annoying though.

I had this and it was wind weirdly

Had it a lot after a c section too

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and currently in hospital with appendicitis and shoulder pain is sometimes a sign so keep an eye out for any lower right side pain too... good luck xx

I've had this pain and was wind too, same as PP. wind gets me in some weird places!

I’m 39 weeks and have had right shoulder pain or strange sensations through most of my pregnancy. It’s been like a restless legs feeling at times. I’ve put it down to nerve pain but I’ve no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️

mamaoffourdc · 28/08/2020 18:54

I had this and was blood clots in my lung 😳

ivfdreaming · 28/08/2020 19:42

At 15 weeks assuming you had a 12 week scan there is no way it's ectopic 🤷‍♀️

It's likely just a trapped nerve/pulled nerve

I've had 2 ectopics both ruptured and shoulder tip pain is laughably misunderstood as an ectopic symptom - it's caused by internal bleeding reaching the diaphragm - literally the last symptom before collapsing - and trust me youd know about it before it got to that point

Whattodowithaminute · 28/08/2020 19:48

Shoulder tip pain is pretty common as visceral or diaphragmatic irritation. May be associated with stretch.

Thank you all so much for the reassurance! Flowers

I only had the pain when I lay down on my left side and it's only in my right shoulder tip for about 5 minutes or so.

I will keep an eye on it but I should be fine!

Thank god for Mumsnet Halo Daffodil

There's no way it could be ectopic when you're 15 weeks and have had scans.

It really could just be trapped wind or a pinched nerve.
