Bump measurements...

Hello! Had my 25 week midwife appointment today (am 25 +4) and everything was ok other than bump measurement putting me at 28 weeks. Am doing the gdt at 28 weeks, had to anyway as I'm over 35, but just wondered how common this was etc.
DC1 was born at 40 + 11 and weighed 8lbs, no diabetes or anything but that was 4 years ago.
Any advice/similar stories welcome, thank you!

My first is now 19 months. At one of my later appointments the midwife said I was measuring several weeks larger than I was supposed to so she sent me for an urgent growth scan to check the amount of amniotic fluid, everything measured normal, no indicators for GD or anything like that, and my son was born 39+2 at 7lb 14oz putting him directly on the 50th centile. The midwife measurements aren't always accurate

I have been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead for the whole of my pregnancy (39 weeks tomorrow). No suggestion of gd test or growth scans! Hope all is well x

Anyone else have experience of this? Thanks!

My midwife said they don’t measure the bump until 28 weeks as they’re not accurate earlier than that.

Same here with measurements of bump not starting until 28 weeks as they might not be accurate before then.
I’m measuring a little ahead than normal at 31 weeks but nothing that’s considered worrying.
Good luck with the GD test, try not to worry.

I'm 34 weeks now, just wondered if anyone else had experience x

My bump was measuring large at 28 weeks which happened to be when I had the GTT anyway. I do have gestational diabetes and the baby is measuring big, so that was the explanation in my case!

A big bump isn’t always caused by GD but it can be one of the indicating factors. It may also be a sign of excess amniotic fluid, a large baby, or just that you happen to have a big bump.

Try not to worry about it if you can - whatever the reason, you’re in good hands and will receive the care you need Flowers

I was measuring 3 weeks ahead my first pregnancy and my DS was born at 37 weeks at 8lbs 😳! Thank goodness I didn’t go to my due date or beyond . I never had growth scans though and my midwife was never concerned . No GD test. My bmi is a little bit overweight , at the time I was 34.

Im currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second and have also been measuring 3 weeks ahead . I’m 36 . Maybe because my first born was big they had me do two growth scans but no GD test.. Baby is measuring 57th percentile . I have no idea how accurate that is though .
