Feeling worried, reduced movements

I’m 26 weeks pregnant and hardly felt the baby move at all today. I’ve tried everything I can think of- lying down, being active, drinking fizzy pop, playing music to my bump, talking to it. All I’ve had is the odd kick, a lot less than what I’d normally get throughout the day. It was very quiet last night too, normally very active in the evening and when I go to bed but again I only felt the odd kick.
I’m going to ring Triage but I have to wait for my OH to get home so he can take me. Does ringing them first get you seen quicker than if you just turn up?

When will your OH be home?
You need to go in ASAP.

Bettie2192 · 27/08/2020 15:51

About an hour or so

Could you not get a taxi? That might be better than waiting if you're really worried.

cosmo30 · 27/08/2020 15:57

I went in two times for reduced movements about 34 weeks so I know how scary it must be for you, but both times as soon as I got there baby was bouncing around again! The first time they accused me of not eating enough! But also they did say really cold orange juice helps

Bettie2192 · 27/08/2020 16:01

Do you get seen sooner if you ring first, rather than just turning up and waiting to be assessed?

Phone first so they are aware your going. And get a taxi, you shouldn't wait

cosmo30 · 27/08/2020 16:22

I called my midwife the first time and she advised calling in, second time i mentioned it to my midwife at a check up and she called in for me. Either way I'd go in asap

Daisysandviolets · 27/08/2020 16:27

Call them to let them know your on your way and then go ASAP especially if they have been reduced since last night. Baby should be all ok but better to get checked sooner rather than later. Let us know how you get on xx

Bettie2192 · 27/08/2020 16:33

Just rang them, thought she was going to tell me to wait at first as she said movement patterns aren’t established yet, but she did put me down for triage so I’m going soon

Yes it’s best to go in ASAP, good your getting seen as your only 26 weeks they will just listen into the heartbeat I think, they can’t do a trace of the baby until 28 weeks but definitely the right thing to do, I went in before 28 weeks as well and they were really lovely.

Bettie2192 · 27/08/2020 16:43

Thanks everyone, I’ll update when I get back.
Since 4pm the baby has been moving a bit but it’s very unusual for me to not feel anything until so late in the day.

At 26 weeks movements will still be slightly irregular and it's positive that you're feeling kicks, just not as regularly. Good to get checked out for peace of mind though.

Bettie2192 · 27/08/2020 18:48

Everything fine 👍👍

Glad to hear it op!

Bettie2192 · 28/08/2020 18:31

I’m still not happy with movement but heartbeat was fine yesterday :/ and as I’m not 28 weeks there’s no more checks they can do. I have a private scan tomorrow anyway that I booked ages ago so at least I’ll be able to see baby. Just don’t know why they’re being so quiet!

Daisysandviolets · 29/08/2020 11:23

Let us know how you get on with you scan xxx

Bettie2192 · 29/08/2020 12:55

Scan went great thank you for asking :) baby is absolutely fine, was just being a bit quiet for a couple of days. Was nice and active last night and this morning so I was starting to feel better anyway :)
