Requesting CMV and Toxo tests

I am 6 weeks pregnant and have found out my niece has CMV - who I looked after 3 weeks ago.

On top of that, her brother threw soil at me and some went in my mouth (this happened last week). I have since felt rather flu like and my anxiety has been through the roof.

I am therefore really concerned about CMV and Toxoplasmosis.

I am wondering if the NHS will test for these at my booking appointment (in three weeks), based on my exposure and flu-like symptoms?

Thank you in advance for any comments :)

Best way to sort this is to make an appointment with your GP, explain your exposure, and ask for an antibody test. If they’re resistant to it, try to stand your ground - if they’re not super educated on risks in pregnancy they may not be aware of possible implications.
For what it’s worth a huge proportion of women have had either/both infections before and that would show up from the blood tests and put your mind at ease. So try not to get too too carried away with what-ifs - but do try and get it sorted with GP rather than waiting and then hopefully you can forget about it.
Congrats on new pregnancy :)

Many thanks for your response. I have informed my practice through the econsult service, so hopefully they will offer me the test or reassure me that it can be added to my bloods at the booking app.

It has brought on severe anxiety, so for that alone, I do hope they respond positively.

Thank you for the warm wishes :)

The doctor was lovely and has arranged for me to have bloods in the next few days. She also reassured me about a toxo test later (I was only exposed to that 5 days ago).

I thought I would write this to update and be a useful reference for anyone searching later on :)
