Brown spotting at 10 weeks

I’m about 10.5 weeks pregnant and have had a brown discharge on wiping today. I’ve called epu and they have no space. They told me to call gp as they can book emergency appointments but I am STILL waiting for a call back from them from this morning. Going out of my mind here and don’t know what else I can do.

You poor thing! But just remember for blood to turn old/brown and work it's way down you to the toilet paper can be a couple weeks, especially now that your plug is almost complete.
Brown discharge is scary but normal. If you get bright red and more than spotting, then I'd be more push re hospital x

Thank you. I can’t get a scan until Friday so I guess I’ll know one way or another. I’ve had implantation bleeding at 4-5 weeks before which looked just like this but didn’t think I’d get it this far along.

I had implantation bleed between 4-5 weeks pregnant with both my pregnancies then nothing. However, when I went for my dating scan at 12 weeks the sonographer said she could see some implantation bleed in my uterus and to not be alarmed if I saw some more blood in the coming weeks. I'm super glad she told me because I did have some brown and light pink blood upon wiping a few days after my scan. So for you it could be a similar thing. Hopefully everything goes well at your scan.

Oh that’s interesting. I’ve not heard it hanging around for that long. Fingers crossed. Can’t believe it’s such a long wait.

I'm 15 + 2 and had a bright red bleed which turned to brown spotting just over 2 weeks ago ( I was just under 13 weeks then), and went to the early pregnancy unit who told me everything was fine it was some sort of haemorrhage, but not to worry. I've since had more brown spotting when wiping, which they said could happen as the old blood would either be reabsorbed, or 'come out'!

Try not to worry (much easier said than done!), if it's brown blood, that means the bleeding has stopped!

Hopefully you can get a scan asap to reassure yourself! I've had two (private) for reassurance since then (I have anxiety so worry!)

When I was 10.5wks I had some dark brown mucus come out followed by tan coloured over a couple of days - Thu to Sun, then completely disappeared. I was told brown is nothing to worry about as it is just old blood making its way out. I am now 25wks with a healthy wriggly baby. If you are worried I would push for a scan but try not to worry too much as if no red bleeding and no cramps hopefully everything will be fine.

I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and have also woken up today with brown spotting everytime I wipe also experiencing painful cramping and pregnancy symptoms have gone i have a scan booked for Friday as had a previous missed miscarriage in April so they want to check im really worried and praying everything goes okay🙏 .

@Kaityx4 oh it’s so worrying isn’t it? Even when everything is often fine, sometimes it’s not. I’m 40 so not sure if I’ve just left it too long. Fingers crossed!

Yeah its worrying its the waiting and not knowing is the most difficult .i had light pink spotting at 6 weeks and pain and went for early scan the staff were so lovley and baby had heart beat . But I think cause its brown and cramping im a little concerned but I'm still hopefull everything will be okay dont have any kids yet im 29. Im sure you haven't left it to long and your baby is fine ❤ let me know how you get on at your scan . Mines is at 8.20 in moring .

Mines at 10:30. Not sure how I’ll get through tomorrow. I have a 5 year old so I’m not sure if that will distract me or make me feel worse. The consensus seems to be that brown blood is better but... idk. Let me know how it goes xx

I know friday seems so long away !! I'm working tomorrow so will hopefully go by fast work in a hospital so very busy lol would love to just lie in bed and sleep until friday . Will keep everything crossed for you and sending hugs.

Oh it was all ok after all that worry. Saw a heartbeat. No sign of what caused the bleeding. How was yours? I actually woke up at 8:30 and thought of you!

Mines was good too and saw a heartbeat also. Thankyou was thinking of you too. Glad both our babies are okay 😀

Phew! Got my proper dating scan in about a week and a half so that will be a relief. Although sonographer seemed to think I was a week ahead of dates so that will be interesting!

I have had exactly the same scare as this today. Brown spotting in my underwear and when wiping. Thank you for posting this thread, it has been reassuring for me to hear you and your baby were fine. I have an emergency scan booked tomorrow. Really hoping everything will be okay. X

I had exactly the same at 9 weeks and was in a right state thinking the worst.
I remember being told when I called up ‘well even if it was a miscarriage, there’s nothing we can do , we can’t save a baby at 9 weeks’ I was appalled at how I was spoken too.

they wouldn’t see me so I went for a private scan and everything was fine 😊
currently 39 weeks now and waiting on baby.

I had brown bleeding when I wiped at around 10 weeks I think I was. Had a scan a week later as it was the first I could get. The baby was absolutely fine, flipping, jolting and kicking around making us all laugh. The brown bleeding turned out to be an old implementation bleed, I had 3 pockets of blood just above my cervix but outside of the sack. They told me to expect more blood which I did have for another week and then it stopped. They said the blood would either come out or my body would absorb it, id not heard of it before but apparently its really conmon. I'm now 18 ½ weeks, I've had a few more scans after and baby is still fine and they are not worried about the bleed. I hope this is a similar situation for you xx

Phew all okay! Feeling very blessed today to see the baby and hear the heartbeat!

I'm 10 weeks tommoro and woke up this morning with a light brown discharge when I wipe I had cramps on my right side since yesterday is this normal. Still got minor cramps now on my right side but also in my lower belly. Was meant to have a scan next week but recently moved cities so now I don't know what to do. Can I still keep my scan date but have it at a different location. What do I do about the discharge it's really worrying me. Also pregnancy symptoms ie sickness has gone. Just get it occasionally with food smells. Is this normal last time I had a baby was 10 years ago. Any advice or comments will be appreciated thanks

i am 9+6, with 2 previous miscarriages at 9 weeks and today keep having brown spotting.
also having a low back ache and lower tummy ache which is really uncomfortable. I have no hope at all.

@Ingridika Im so sorry to hear that but please don't worry I had 2 previous miscarriages before this baby I am now 18 weeks and 4 days. Brown spotting is normal and the cramps are called round ligament cramps. If ur worried speak to ur midwife to arrange a scan. I'm happy to help and chat to u throughout ur pregnancy hope everything goes well for u
