For anyone who's had a water birth or if you're considering it - what did you wear/are you planning to wear in the birthing pool?

I ended up just wearing my normal nursing bra and nothing else 😂

Pack whatever makes you feel comfortable though. Even if you don't use it, at least it's there.

I was thinking maybe a black bikini top but trying to find one which looks reasonably decent and like I haven't got everything hanging out! 🤣

I had a water birth and I was naked in the pool. I did take a baggy T-shirt and bra-tops in with me but I think they would’ve made me uncomfortable. I had a young student midwife with me and when I walked in the room I thought omg I’m going to be so embarrassed in front of her, but about 5 minutes later I was starkers in the pool not even bothered, all I was bothered about was being comfortable!

I wore a black vest top - hadn't actually planned to go in the pool but was offered it during labour and was willing to try anything!

I had a bikini top in my maternity bag which was in was planning on wearing if I had a water birth, however, I was fully dilated and ready to push by the time I went in for assessment so I stripped off and climbed in naked. I just wanted to get into the pool, I had had a bath earlier in the day and knew the warm water would help so didn't want any delays to getting in by that point!

Just my bra - didn't really care by that stage!

Gerdticker · 26/08/2020 11:15

I was starkers for mine - honestly I couldn’t have cared less (which is very unlike me, but contractions have a way of only letting you think about one thing, getting the baby out!)

Next time I’ll take a crop top but fully expect to be naked again :)

I’ve lived in these during pregnancy and would be ideal

I wore a tankini top. No starkers for me lol

NoImNotPregnant · 26/08/2020 12:10

Naked!

otterbaby · 26/08/2020 12:15

I'm planning one and have bought a black sports bra for it.

beautifulmonument · 26/08/2020 12:21

Crop top bra and tee shirt = the clothes I happened to be wearing that day

Frlrlrubert · 26/08/2020 12:53

I think I started off in a bra and vest top. I'm pretty sure I ended up starkers.
