Should I be buying sheets for in the pram carrycot? 🤔🙈

Having a quick look through John Lewis online to grab the last bits and pieces we need for our little one and came across “pram/Moses basket sheets”. Nobody has mentioned these to me before but I guess it makes sense to have another layer of protection over the pram mattress 🙈 help! Haha.

I did so that if baby was sick or there was a poop explosion then the pram mattress was protected a little.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 26/08/2020 07:42

I never bothered/ heard of such a thing- if same size as the Moses basket guess couldn’t hurt

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 26/08/2020 07:42

I just laid my baby on a muslin cloth or blanket

You can also use pillowcases. Much cheaper if you already have spares. You do need sheets of some sort so you can wash them.

MsChatterbox · 26/08/2020 07:50

Yes get something to cover it at least. Then if baby spits up on it you can just replace it and they have a nice dry mattress again. You can use anything doesn't have to be a fitted sheet.

I never bothered but wished I did as she threw up on the first day and stained the cover so then I had to have a Muslin in there all the time.

TheChineseChicken · 26/08/2020 07:58

We did. You can get them on amazon

RWK29 · 26/08/2020 08:05

Thanks everyone 😊 I had got large muslins first laying down in the pram for potential sick/nappy leaks but then I saw the sheets and thought I was just being an idiot 😂 I’ll order some and see how they are 😊

I used a pillowcase :) It's about the right size and less fiddly.

The actual pram mattress cover was plasticky so I didn't want to lie him directly on it.

BertieBotts · 26/08/2020 08:07

I did put a muslin just over the head end for an extra layer and to aid easy changes.

BertieBotts · 26/08/2020 08:07

But you don't want anything loose they can get tangled in, only if it tucks in firmly.

simplebuteffective · 26/08/2020 08:12

The fitted pram sheets from John Lewis are good, come in pack of 2 and wash really well. We used those over a cheap Asda fitted mattress protector.

Flynn2019 · 26/08/2020 08:49

The mattress on my bugaboo fox was removable to wash so I didn't bother. Although I sometimes used a muslin for spit up to save me washing it everyday! I think they are quite an old fashioned thing but I am sure it's moses basket sheets u can use
