Did anyone listen to music during labour and birth at the hospital? If so what did you listen to?

We made a playlist. Gave DH something to do beforehand and listen to while we were in the hospital all day. I was in the zone off my tits on gas & air so don't even remember if being on.

I also made a playlist full of songs I could sing along to. Theorised it would act as a sort of distraction therapy. In the end, I was high as a kite on diamorphine for the parts of labour I would have needed the distraction. I enjoyed it in the early phases and I heard my midwives enjoyed it too. So it wasn't a complete waste.

Sadly, it wasn't on when DD was born. So the only song I associate with her before I held her is Skibidi by Little Big. She'd kick up a storm whenever it was on.

No music for me. I watched rick stein tour France on TV, that was great. Music would be nice too though. Depends on how long/difficult the labour is.

I had a playlist that was never played. But have lovely memories of it being on once baby was here and I was recovering in the labour room xx

Midwife wanted to put the radio on for us but I couldn’t bear the idea of hearing a song later on, to just be reminded of being in labour throughout it!

I had some music that our hypnobirthing course gave us - very jangly new-age spa kind of music Grin

I intended to listen to some of the Pre- recorded affirmations in early labour, but things moved so fast for me that i just listened to the jangly music the whole way through (only 2 hrs from 4cm- baby born)!

I really liked the fact that the music helped me block out any other noise, and just stay in my zone. I associated it with being calm, having fallen asleep to it several times in pregnancy!

Don’t like the idea of a songs playlist so much, as the wrong one might play at an important moment!!

But I appreciate most people’s labour is longer than mine (5 hrs total) so maybe you need more Inspiration to get you through..
