Spotting for 1st time at 11 weeks

I know there are dozens of threads like this. But just want to hear some real life stories as opposed to articles written online.

11 + 3 with first pregnancy. Been very easy. No nausea or sickness, but some fatigue and loss of appetite which are now easing off as coming to end of 1st trimester I presume. No spotting at all.

Just went to the loo and wiped and got some dark red/brown blood/discharge. Is it normal to get it this late in 1st trimester, and for the first time? I thought spotting started earlier? No pain just yet, maybe some slight stinging unless it's psychological and it was only enough to see when wiped, I doubt it would have gone through to my underwear.

Scan is on Friday. If I cal 111 is there anything they can do to "stop" the inevitable? EPU shut

I had some spotting at 10 weeks. Lasted a couple of days and now seems to have stopped. Apparently it’s pretty normal so I would try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!). If it increases in volume or if you’re super worried, definitely speak to someone.

Spotting doesn’t necessarily mean the worst will happen. This is my 4th baby and the only time I have ever had spotting, so every pregnancy really is different.

Hope things go well at the scan.

Hi @NotThatKindOfDoctor thank you. How much spotting would come out? Enough to soak through to underwear or clothes? Or just when you wiped? Any pain? I feel like I have pain but not sure if it's in my head or not

Definitely not enough to soak through a pad, and in fact if that is how much you have I would definitely recommend that you speak to someone so they can check you out and make sure everything is okay.

I had just a small amount when I wiped, it wasn’t every time I went to the toilet, and lasted just 3 days.

I typically am quite crampy when I’m pregnant anyway so nothing out of the ordinary there for me.

@kittenpeak it can be completely normal, however I would personally speak to epu at your hospital especially if you are feeling some pain.
