Anyone else on aspirin 150mg?

Hi,
I will be 40 when the baby is born and also a FTM so the midwife said I need to be on 150mg of aspirin. I had first appt with Dr at the hospital who said that I only need to take 75mg not 150mg. I had 16 week appt with the midwife and she said no the guidelines had changed and it was suggested that I take 150mg not the 75mg and double checked it with another midwife. Anyone else on aspirin as a precaution and what is the dosage? Also I have been having headaches and mentioned this to the midwife - she just said it is normal and BP was ok. Can you take paracetamol while on aspirin (But not at the same time). Thank you.

Thank you all for your replies - definitely reassuring to hear that you have all been advised that the guidelines have changed and the dosage is 150mg. I think the hospital doctor wasn't as up to date.

@IDK2020 thank you - will give the lavender oil a try - anything is worth a go! Thank you.

@DressingGown87 - no worries. All information is helpful!! :) I will probably want to know that too! Lol!

I am 13 weeks with my 4th and have been told to start taking 150mg of aspirin.. the docs only give the disolvable one which I really dont like so they said just go and buy my own!! Is any brand from the chemist okay or is there a certain one best to get??

Any brand is fine. Just make sure the dosage is 150mg. And you'll be saving the NHS money.

Wilkos or B&M do them - yellow box. About 80p per box. Each tablet is 75mg

Any brand is fine as Dyra says.

I’ve struggled at times to find 75mg ones or 150mg in my supermarket so I buy standard 300mg ones and just carefully chop in half to get my 150mg daily dosage. (Hopefully no one tells me that’s bad as have been doing for ages!)

Hi
Im 12+ pregnant and 41years old. had 12weeks scan and screening. Found out my Papp-A is too low. Its 0.28 and down syndrome risk is 1/123. Just done the harmoney test and waiting for results now. So worried and stressed. Has anyone else had similar experience? Is it something serious?

Yeh I’m on aspirin due to my first being a really small baby. Also been given 150mg xx

@Deeps123 I'm 28 and didn't have great screening results, 1 in 150. Have also done an NIPT and waiting for results. Was asked to take 150mg aspirin before the results but sounds like it might help with the lower Papp-a too. It's worrying but it won't change the situation or outcome, our babies are what they are already so hoping our results come back okay. 🤞🏼 for us

I was also recently told I have low PAPP.A and a ds risk of 1:23. It completely shook me as I was not expecting it at all. The longest week of my life waiting for these results, hoping they come in soon with good news! I'm also on 150 aspirn due to papp.a, I find dissolving it in a little bit of water and downing it then drinking a glass of regular water helps. I've been told to take it until the end of pregnancy, i also have extra scans but they have even booked an ultrasound after my due date?! My community midwife is still on holiday so not been able to sort my 16 week appointment yet either, ugh!

Let me know how you all get on waiting for NIPT results xxx

@Mrsmujic - I’m on aspirin for low Papp a but my Down syndrome risk was low. I have to have extra growth scans and have one booked in 2 days before my due date - I queried with consultant as both previous babies have been early and they said it was protocol to monitor until the end. They also told me the evidence/worry around low Papp a is new and it doesn’t mean an adverse outcome in every case - not everyone will have a growth restricted baby or a premature baby but they take the same approach with everyone even if it turns out it wasn’t really needed. To be honest I’d rather have extra scans and more attention!

I’m on 150mg due to raised no levels. I’m currently 14 + 1, been taking it since 12 weeks and will take until birth x

@Lb603 I am on 75mg too! Was told to take this dosage 3 weeks ago by my consultant.
I think it depends on the reason why you're taking it.
My tests all came back fine but the baby aspirin is being taken as a precaution. X

I also got the phone call I've been anxiously waiting for all week today. My NIPT has come back as low risk. I'm not sure what the numbers are this time but wow what a relief! Xxx

I’m on 150mg a day as the baby is around the 10th centile - sometimes below and sometimes above depending on the sonographer! I’m nearly 33 weeks and the above posts have prompted me to ask my consultant how long I should take for, though I won’t see her next till I am 35 weeks.
