Feeling like bump grows and shrinks!?!?

Really weird one:

I'm 17 weeks today and had a sort of bump pop out around the 13-14 week mark.

Last couple of weeks - sometimes my bump feels absolutely HUGE, and then sometimes it seems like its barely there at all. Like this morning, I woke up and looked at it in the mirror, and it seems like it has gone right down again.

I was already overweight when I got pregnant (though not hugely so, BMI a long way from obese and according to midwife zero concern), so it still looks like a lumpy fat belly just sticking out rather than smooth and firm. But still, sometimes I'm thinking "How the hell did I get so big in just a few weeks?", and then other times "I swear this was bigger before?".

I know that, especially since its the mornings, a lot of it is probably just food/water bloat going up and down. But I absolutely never had noticeable food bloat before getting pregnant. Or could it be the baby changing position?

I also know that I'm being ridiculous - I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and I've been really anxious about this pregnancy already, and that this doesn't mean anything necessarily. I was just wondering if anyone else feels/felt like this?

I'm 18+1 and noticed a bump from around 14/15 weeks. Like you, it seemed to be huge some days and barely noticeable on others. It was also usually bigger at night and in the morning had gone down again, so I had attributed this to bloating from whatever I'd eaten in the day. I think that pregnancy makes you bloat more than usual anyway.

I was starting to get worried as I go back to work next week (teacher so not physically been in school with colleagues/pupils since march), and I really wanted to have a noticeable bump to avoid the is she/isn't she stage. However, this week it 'popped' again, and now looks like a bump even first thing in the morning, and also feels a lot harder above my belly button.

But yeah, for a few weeks it seemed to go up and down. Now it only seems to be growing every day!

It's likely the baby changing position as well as normal bloating. Wait until you get bigger and your bump changes shape, that's freaky haha.

Mines always bigger in the evenings and then shrinks again abit by the morning. I think in the mornings you carry less water etc and won't be bloated as you haven't eaten through the night
