Hi all FTM mum here and a bit clueless! I know we're to wash baby clothes but are people washing everything else? E.g. blankets, towels, bedding etc

Thanks!

I washed all the bedding and pre used stuff but not the new stuff... I did go into overdrive with constantly checking, sniffing and folding it though once the 'nesting' started! I also steamed sofas, carpets and curtains etc ... I became a woman obsessed! 🙄

I'm 39 weeks and washed everything in newborn, tiny baby and 0-3 plus blankets, muslins, soft toys that I could wash without damaging several weeks ago with baby fabric softener and detergent. That was both new and second hand from friends. I will wash the bigger sizes as and when so that they're fresh.

With my first 2 I dye by abs all was fine. When my 3rd I didn't and she had a bad reaction. Apparently some clothes are coated in formidahide (sp) to stop the creasing in transit.

I washed everything but then had a big baby. None of the newborn/up to 1 month fit, he went straight into 0-3 months.

Unfortunately had taken all the tags off everything to wash so I couldn't return them!

I washed the first set of things I bought, then he was super long and ended up in 0-3 straight away (straight out of the packet) and all the nicely washed and ironed newborn suits went straight to a friend who was due a few weeks later!

Never did this.

I have been gifted some lovely hand knitted bits from the residents in my MIL care home.

Is Woolite safe to use for baby's skin? I will be using fairy for anything else.

I washed everything for DD1 up until she was about a year old. I’m 36w with DD2 and have washed up to 6m so far. All clothes, muslins, bibs, bedding, towels. I’ll do up to a year eventually.

All my stuff is second hand and I've washed it all. If I had new stuff I might have washed some for immediate use and then left others until I knew we would definitely use it - so it was easier to return/sell on if not used.

I didn’t wash anything and my son puked so much in the first few days that he only wore most of his vests and sleepsuits for a few hours before they went in the wash so I was glad I didn’t bother!
