Hello! So I'm currently pregnant with my second baby, not far as only found out I was expecting last week 😅.. But with my daughter early stages I always remember being up between 3 and 5 wide awake right through till I was 6 or 7 months pregnant. Really hope it's not the same with this one but for the past few days Iv been up wide awake between 3 and 5 😭 is pregnancy insomnia really a thing girls?

I'm completely the same! I'm only 5.5 weeks though, so not sure if it can kick in this early? I'm exhausted 😩

SamK93 · 23/08/2020 04:21

LatteLover12 · 23/08/2020 04:24

Yup, been awake since 3am.

I'm 36 weeks now but this started the same week I POAS.

Looking forward to baby arriving so I can get more sleep! 😂

Mc3209 · 23/08/2020 04:31

Yeah, it is a thing unfortunately. Welcome to the nightshift club 😂 30 weeks now, and insomnia was my very first pregnancy symptom. Gosh, it's exhausting.

With my daughter even before I knew I was pregnant I'd wake at this time it's crazy lol. Hopefully it doesn't last... Awwww 30 weeks your nearly there though such a great feeling getting too the last hurdle! And good luck with getting induced not long till you have your beautiful gift in your arms🥰

Ooh good luck @Mummab123456 😊

Sunshinedahlia · 23/08/2020 05:08

Think so...I‘ve been awake for an hour. Had it since the beginning, currently in the 18th week. But it has got better. I‘m not awake for so long anymore. And some nights I sleep through the whole night.
My midwife advised me to see if I could adjust my day so I don‘t have meetings first thing, as I normally get tired again just before the time my alarm goes off. Not always possible but maybe you might find a way.

Mummab123456 · 23/08/2020 05:10

Thank you - extremely scared lol x

SamK93 · 23/08/2020 05:21

Good luck @Mummab123456

I'm now up watching an old episode of the Chase & eating yoghurt and grapes. It's going to be a long day!

New2020 · 23/08/2020 05:33

Up and awake...29wks and been like this for a while now! I did a lot of baby shopping in the middle of the night

I usually wake up a couple of times at night and need a nap during the day which makes me feel so lazy

calimommy · 23/08/2020 06:01

I think with your first pregnancy you have difficulty sleeping because it's all new and you have so much to think about. Similarly when you are newly pregnant again, you think about the changes that will come, going through it again etc. I do think the insomnia goes away once you relax after a few weeks, when you get used to the idea. I had difficulty sleeping for a few weeks and this is my 7th pregnancy! (But hopefully 4th baby).
But obviously insomnia comes back with a vengeance once you get bigger and uncomfortable!

ClaudiaRoseAitken · 23/08/2020 06:44

@calimommy my daughter is only 15 weeks and that's me pregnant again! Came as a complete shock as I was on contraception! But so happy too have my babies close in age. What is the age differences with your children?

@ClaudiaRoseAitken mine are 7, 5 & 3. I wanted a 3 yr gap for the last because the two yr gap was exhausting.

I had it in my last pregnancy (and when DS arrived actually which was really bad but at least I could have sleeping tablets for that!) and it has come back this time. I have done pretty well the last couple of weeks by downloading a talking book (Harry Potter as I have heard it all before!) and just popping headphones in and listening to that. It has sent me back to sleep without many problems. I feel so much better for it.

Didn’t work last night but I had a headache - which is still there- so think that stopped it working so well.

Good luck!
