Babies heart rate 173 at 12 week scan

Hi,

I had a private 12 week scan yesterday. Partly because I’m hugely anxious due to previous missed miscarriage so have already had a few and partly because my fiancé won’t be able to come with me to my nhs one.

The babies heart rate was 173, which when I’ve looked online is considered to be pretty high. The lady doing to scan didn’t seem too worried and said it could have been because the baby was moving around, but has anyone else had the heart rate come back this high at 12 weeks?

I’ve also found that I’ve been out of breath just by walking up the stairs or round the block. I’m not particularly fit but I’m also not overweight and wouldn’t usually feel like that, not sure if there’s any connection.

Really hoping that others have seen a heart rate this high at 12 weeks and all has been okay?

Hi yes to both - I'm carrying twins and sometimes they are around the 170 mark. I also get breathless and dizzy a lot

My boy had heart rates like that the whole way through pregnancy. It was always noted in appointments how fast it was but he's a strong and healthy little toddler now. Try to relax.
