2nd trimester lull...

Hello,

Now 15 weeks I'm finding there's a bit of a lull...

Aside from my 12w scan, I've had no real midwife contact, apart from a call scheduled next week.

With the fading pregnancy symptoms with the second trimester and no baby movement yet.. It feels quite daunting to be just plodding along, waiting patiently for 20w scan.

Is anyone finding this lull and doesn't 'feel' as pregnant as the first trimester (forgetting the physical bump!)

X

Yes! I feel exactly like this (I'm 17 weeks). Because of covid my midwife appt between the two scans was on the phone, so no chance to hear the babys heartbeat which was really disappointing. I think hearing it would have made me feel a lot better/reassured that everything is okay. Its a long wait from 12 to 20 weeks and I'm not really showing so I don't feel very pregnant at all! Not a great situation but its nice to know someone else is feeling the same way. Good luck.

@MumChats

The good news is that we'll get an additional scan at 35w because the lack of contact. But to be honest by 35, the baby we'll be so active I won't need a scan for reassurance!

I just thought there would be more interaction. And not that I'm wishing for symptoms, but I suppose they were a reassurance in a way!

Perhaps when I have another bump growth spurt I'll feel better!

Have you felt movements yet? X

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and feeling exactly the same.

16w appointment was by phone and was really just the midwife asking me if everything was ok, only lasted about 5 minutes! I really would have loved to have heard the heartbeat. The 12w scan seems so long ago now.

On the plus side I only have 2 weeks until my 20w scan, but haven't felt any movements yet so feeling a bit nervous!

Poppyismyfavourite · 21/08/2020 16:11

eugh yes me too... my 12 week scan was at 13 weeks, my 16 week apt at 14 weeks, and my 20 week scan is booked for 21 weeks, so now I have 7 weeks until any contact!
I feel totally normal and not pregnant at all... just a little bit fat!

Me! 18+1 today and haven't ever really had symptoms. I last saw a midwife when I had my dating scan, my 16 week appointment was over the phone and lasted about 10 minutes. I have a private scan booked for tomorrow morning to reassure me and to find out the sex and I think I've been getting movement (started as bubbles but it feels more like little kicks now..) but want to see it on the scan so I know it's not in my head!

@33muma thats great about the additional scan! I'm not sure they do that where we are. No I haven't felt anything, which also makes me worry although I know at 17 weeks its normal not to. Also yes to the PP who said they feel fat rather than pregnant! Definitely me too - I'm too fat for a lot of my usual jeans/trousers but not big enough for maternity clothes! And yes know what you mean about symptoms! Not pleasant but at least theyd be a good clue that things were okay.

33muma · 23/08/2020 20:33

Definitely!
My partner pointed out that my bump hasn't got any bigger over the last few weeks since it's growth spurt and that's got me nervy!! Bring on 20+
