Difference between ‘normal’ spotting and possible MC

8+3 and tonight I felt a wet sensation and upon running to the loo as you do to check, my worst fears were confirmed with pink/reddish blood when wiping. To describe it - it was more staining of the tissue, rather than mixed with any sort of mucus?

This was around 8.30pm and it is still there when wiping now, just not as much as when I first saw it.

We did DTD earlier but it was all of 20 seconds if that? (sorry TMI) as we were summoned by DC for something.

I have been lucky enough to not experience bleeding during pregnancy before so I’m on tenterhooks now waiting for something to happen.

I’m not cramping as such, it’s more of a hot poker type sensation every now and again. Symptom wise - I don’t know. I was suffering pretty badly with nausea but I did have some periods of respite through the day. I feel OK now, more a nervous sicky feel.

To make matters worse we are away at the mo in the middle of nowhere so if the worst was to happen, I have nothing in the way of sanitary towels etc

Sorry for rambling on, I know no one can know the outcome, I also know spotting can be normal especially after DTD. I suppose I’m just worried being where we are if something does happen during the night, and maybe looking for a hand hold as no one knows IRL Sad

Generally if the bleeding is light and not accompanied by pain, it's less likely to indicate a miscarriage (I had pain free spotting constantly for the first 11 weeks of my current pregnancy).

Unfortunately with bleeding and stabbing pains, I'd be worried that the pregnancy is ectopic, especially if the pain is one-sided? I know you said you're in the middle of nowhere but I'd there any chance you could get to medical assistance? If you think you might have an ectopic pregnancy, please don't delay in seeking help; it's classed as an emergency.

Sorry I don't mean to worry you unnecessarily, it could very well be nothing, but it doesn't hurt to get checked if you can xx

Hi @PowPurry I hope your nausea is back (never usually something I’d say!) Just to add my experience if it helps. When I had a miscarriage it was a sudden great big rush of dark and thick blood (sorry about graphic detail, but may help in this situation).

@PowPurry I hope your ok, try to relax.

To confirm any problems you’d need a test to check on your hormones.
Could you ring a doctor for some reassurance, they would do a telephone consultation.

I had one lot of bleeding and cramping very early on which I think must have been from implantation, as I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time and thought it was just a period.

Hopefully some others will come on who have more experience.

Thank you everyone. That does help.
After a sleepless night checking all the time, it’s still light and pink.
Do I contact EPU or wait it out and see? I’m assuming they will say something along the lines of unless it’s heavy and extremely painful, to sit tight?
Can implantation/ectopic show this late?

I've had bleeding in both of my pregnancies, currently 31 weeks into my second. First went to term fine.

I called the EPU both times, but my bleeding was heavier than yours - no explanation given. But I was told implantation could be later on, but also sex could cause it. Call them, see what they say? It can't do any harm and it's what they are there for.

I bled in my first pregnancy and it was not light. It was clotted and both brown and bright red.

All was fine! I had a scan, cervix was closed and he is now 9 years old ❤️ I went to a&e and they scanned me two days later. Please don’t panic x

PowPurry · 21/08/2020 19:51

Thank you so much everyone. The bleeding has now stopped thank god. Had a scare in the shop just now again where I felt a sensation but it was just watery cm.

I had a private scan booked for Sunday which I have managed to move to tomorrow morning.

As it’s our 4th I have had this constant ‘we are pushing our luck’ frame of mind since I found out.

Thank you all again for your reassuring stories. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
