False negative on expired tests??

Hi All, so I had my AF 5th August. Usually I get v heavy periods but this one wasnt too heavy and only really lasted 3days. From then to now I have had light af cramps at the bottom of my tummy almost daily, odd time a sore back and quite tired daily. No other symptoms. I tested twice on tests that expired 5 years ago and both BFN. Has this happened anyone that went on to get BFP. My periods are quite irregular but probably not due another one to end of aug x

5 years expired is a long time! I'd be tempted to pick up a new one tomorrow to double check.

Thanks coffeeandjuice. I will retest but want to wait another few days to see does af show. Probably clutching at straws
