Whipps Cross Hospital

Can anyone please tell me a positive story about Whipps Cross hospital?

Due to give birth there in a few months and each time I’ve left an appointment recently I’ve just felt like crying- mostly out of fear that some of the staff there could possibly be looking after me at my most vulnerable.
I’ve been treated so rudely and unprofessionally - not every time but mostly. I just can’t understand the attitude of some of the staff - why they would work in a setting where they need to show compassion or even just general care.

Just been in for a vaccination- she didn’t even ask my name or details, was rude to me about the form to fill in, was not informative and prolonged the whole thing.

I’ve left seriously considering moving hospitals although it would be an upheaval as I’m quite late on now.

Also no one ever answers the phone there - and staff can never answer a simple question or find an answer I always just get told to ask someone else or get fobbed off.

Has anyone else had a good experience there?

Thank you

I've had one at Whipps and one Homerton.

I found both similar in that the admin and pre/post natal side left a but to be desired, but when it came down to it the births were fine and when I needed someone/something it was there. I'd be happy going back to either if I had another.

I had my first birth at Whipps. The antenatal care was really shit. I felt like I saw a different midwife each time and there was no continuity.

But, during the actual birth itself I was really well looked after. I ended up having a really long, drawn out medicalised birth as well but at every step I felt very listened to and in control. Whatever I wanted I got. The aftercare was really good and efficient as well (physio referral for nasty tear). It’s just a shame about their antenatal care - doesn’t give a good first impression.

I had my second at PAH and everything about the whole experience from booking in appointment to discharge after giving birth was lovely.
