Scan before booking appointment?

I'm second guessing myself so just wanted to check other people's experiences.

I've had a message from the hospital to come in for a scan when I will be around 8/9 weeks. I haven't had a date for my booking in appointment yet though. From what was said on the phone (I had to shift the date slightly as the original date clashed with my wedding!) I came away thinking that this is because my last "period" was actually a chemical pregnancy so they need to check my dates etc before booking everything else in. But she didn't say specifically and I didn't ask (too busy flapping about the idea of having a scan the morning of my wedding!)

Does that sound right to people?

If I don't hear about a booking appointment by this time next week I'll give them a a call - I self referred a week ago and they said it could take 14 days.

Thanks!

I had an early scan before my booking appointment. I thought I'd be 7+6 and they said I was actually 6+6 which made sense given what I knew about my cycle. It's very common if they want to check your dates as things like your 12 week scan need to be at the right time and/or if you've sadly got a history of miscarriage they want to give you a chance to see if it's a viable pregnancy before bombarding you with routine appointments. I think you're over thinking it - concentrate on your wedding!

I had my first scan on the day we were moving house which was the day after we'd got back from holiday. That was stressful enough, let alone on the morning of my wedding - glad they let you change it!!

Great thanks! That's what I thought it was for so reassuring!
