Housework when pregnant πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Just took me about half an hour to change a king size bed and now I feel like I’ve run a marathon πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ tell me it’s not just me?! πŸ˜‚

Haven’t done it for weeks as DH makes a fuss about how I shouldn’t be doing too much and makes me go and sit down πŸ˜‚ but he’s got his first day off in ages tomorrow and I thought it’d be nice for him to climb in to a nice fresh bed when he gets home and have a long lie in the morning πŸ˜‚

Safe to say it might be the last time I’m doing that for a while πŸ™ˆ

Nope not just you, I feel that way too. Housework is so much effort now! πŸ˜‚

lockdownpregnancy · 19/08/2020 18:41

Just getting off the sofa is challenging let alone house work! I try do a little each day so I don't break myself! πŸ˜‚
I still have 6 weeks left too! Haha! 😝

RWK29 · 19/08/2020 18:53

πŸ˜‚ glad it’s not just me! Usually I’m not too bad but I think I’ve just overdone it today πŸ˜‚

Same! I am in the throws of nesting at the moment, so cleaning everything in sight, trying to follow a mix of TOMM and flylady system, which I usually follow in normal times. But it really takes it out of me now at 29 weeks and I've done my lower back in few days ago, so I think I will be parking myself on a sofa/birthing ball for the next day or two. But I've got baby stuff to sort out and tidy away too. Argh!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 19/08/2020 20:55

Not just you, I'm only 4 months with the third and I'm buggered after and housework that involves any effort. Unfortunately my dp couldn't give a shit how much pain I'm in and just tells me to stop being lazy and do more during the day while I'm WFH. The joys!

I am 29 weeks and I have a toddler. Housework is at bare minimum now. I do the hoovering and the dishes and make dinner. I do the clothes washing if it really needs it. Thats about it. I tried to hoover the staircase 3 weeks ago and gave myself contractions :-/ I also did the food shop with DD the other day and pushing the trolley around nearly killed me. My DH is very easy going about it all thankfully. He is ok with me sitting on the floor with DD all day (I am a teacher so currently not in work).

RWK29 · 19/08/2020 21:23

@SqidgeBum @Mc3209 I’m 29 weeks too 😊 I have a super easy going DH too thankfully! He is amazing in the house 😊 although, I work full time and he works away for a few weeks at a time so while he’s away I have no choice but to get on with things πŸ˜… when he’s home though, I come home from work and the house is immaculate and the dinner is made which is a dream lol. This is our first baby...I have no idea how you are managing with another child running around πŸ˜…

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion Sorry to hear that’s the way your DP feels πŸ™„ I’d be having very strong words with him πŸ˜…

Honestly @RWK29 I dont know how I am managing with a toddler running around haha. I have no clue how I will lift her onto her chair or into her cot in 6 weeks time. She is quicker than me at getting up from the floor as it is lol.

@SqidgeBum πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I honestly don’t fancy my chances at beating anyone up off the floor at the moment either πŸ˜‚ the bottom of my back and my hips are making me feel like I’m about 90 years old lol. Do you know if you’re having a boy or girl this time? Is your DD old enough to be excited about the new baby? ❀️

My husband is generally good - we very much share household work and cooking - but he's honestly so shit when I'm pregnant!! He expects me to do the housework whilst he's at work - particularly as I'm now on 'holiday' (annual leave prior to mat leave!). The cleaners stopped coming during lock down and he said that we don't need them anymore now I'm home to do it! I'm 36 weeks! He lost that argument.

He's away for a few days and my neighbours have been brilliant and took the bins out for me earlier (I didn't even ask!) and I daren't put the hoover on or they'll be knocking on the door and taking over! Smile

LexiM · 20/08/2020 01:43

I feel like I should do more of the housework as I'm off work and husband isn't but I am tired and find it so hard at 32 weeks.

I really want to do a deep clean before baby arrives but even just doing the living room zapped all my energy this evening. I can also only do it when its cooler like today as it rained all day. Even most people's cooler weather is warm for me right now!

wannabebump · 20/08/2020 05:44

Housework is a struggle! Well actually, most things are! I take plenty time in between anything I'm doing and go at a slower pace. I used to never sit still and always be at something, but I'm learning to sit down! For the housework I've wrote a list of stuff for each day so it's broken down and I don't over do it and I'm definitely finding it much easier x

SqidgeBum · 20/08/2020 07:36

@RWK29 my hips feel awful too! We are having another girl, and she is due exactly 2 years after DD, so I get to reuse all the gorgeous clothes DD barely wore! Haha. DD is only 21 months now so she will tap my belly if I say 'say hello to the baby' but she realistically has no idea what's happening. Poor kid is going to get a shock when November comes.

Treaclepie19 · 20/08/2020 08:17

Yes same! Im 33 weeks and just so in pain with SPD. I'm pretty much stuck to the sofa these days πŸ™ˆ

gingertom11 · 20/08/2020 11:06

Same boat @SqidgeBum! 29 weeks with a (giant) 23 month old DS running around. Starting to really struggle with PGP so even sitting on the floor and playing is painful 😫😫. Trying to get bits and bobs of housework done but it feels like it's bare minimum, I could write a list as long as my arm of things that need doing! DH is working from home but at the same time renovating our en suite in any spare so that just adds to the mess. It'll all be worth it in the end! Nice to know I'm not alone though πŸ˜‚. I feel like this pregnancy has flown by so fast that I have to keep reminding myself that I am fairly 'heavily' pregnant and it's ok to do bare minimum but I still feel guilty a lot, both housework-wise and also that I'm not being active enough with DS. Taking him to the park feels like running a marathon and I have to psych myself up to get out the house 😴.

Sophierella24 · 20/08/2020 17:53

I'm so glad to see others in the same boat...my house currently looks like I have been burgled! This weekend I need to get myself sorted and crack on - after all, I'm only 7 weeks πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜…

RWK29 · 20/08/2020 22:27

@SqidgeBum aww that’s nice that you get to use everything again 😊 Haha, Your DD will definitely get a which but they’ll grow up nice and close in age and have a lovely relationship ☺️
