Glucose Test?

Hi all,

Has anyone done their Glucose/Diabetes test lately? Have they changed the process due to COVID? I know originally they do a blood test, then give you the drink then make you wait a few hours before doing another blood test but I just wondered if this was different now during COVID given they are trying to limit the amount of time you spend in the hospital?

Thanks!

I’ve got mine in a few weeks and is just one blood test (HbA1c test) to look at varying levels over the last month or so. It’s less accurate apparently but safer from a Covid perspective.

Had mine last week normal routine blood test the horrible drink wait 2 hours then another blood test. Had to stay on ward for whole 2 hours in waiting room. There's were 2 other women there for the glucose test as well. Found out next day I had failed the test and picked up my machine yesterday from hospital. They still see you face to face at scans and still give extra scans for growth. They also do over the phone appointments every 2 weeks x

Only did the fasting bloods for my GTT.

I think it depends on the hospital/NHS Trust. I had mine at 30 weeks and did the blood test-gloucose drink-wait-blood year version, but from what I’ve read on here others have just had the one blood test.

May seem like a silly question, but are these tests usually carried out at a hospital or your GP surgery?

My midwife briefly mentioned it, but didn't mention where is happens.

I had mine at my maternity centre with my midwife but see the diabetic team at my hospital when I go for scans x
